The reason the car runs a bit rough with cold start off is because there are other tables in the tune that aren't properly recalibrated for running a lower RPM at a given coolant temp. The cold start off function is just a hard switch off that lowers the idle when you start the car. Typically you need adjust cold fueling and spark modifiers as well as base running airflow type tables. It's not because it "needs RPM to warm up," that is incorrect.
