Did I put in too much oil - capacity

Hi

Done a oil change on my 2018 f90 put in 10 litres but it showed low so I topped up another 0.6litres. Its still showing low but I think I need to do a reset via ista.

Is 10.6 litres too much oil for f90 m5 will the engine be OK or do I need to drain?

Drive it gently until the oil is warm and recheck the level. Unless you put in 11 or 12L, I would not first drain any as a precaution.

It's supposed to be exactly 10l. Your oil sensor could just be going bad or is dirty.

I usually put in enough but definitely not too much and then drive for a while, even a day, before checking again. I learned this with my E90 M3 that would show low oil right after filing. Many people kept adding more even though it did not make sense - they were adding enough to exceed capacity. And then after a day or 2, the level would show correctly as overfilled.

you shouldve started with that lol.... yeah you probably need like 2-3l extra just for the cooler and lines assuming everything drained out. also to clean sensor you take it out of the oil pan (watching your oil drain out while you clean it) spray electrical cleaner on it, shove it back in and pray you dont have to put another 10l of oil in :P, aka don't worry about it since we now know why you had to keep adding oil)

The N63 (non M engine) has a dip stick. But I'm sure BMW would say they removed it on the S63 engine to save weight.

Does the S63 block have a capped hole in the same place and room to install the N63tu dipstick?

Picture showing location on N63tu:

Apparently the dipstick ends up soft of between the oil filler cap and the engine lift eye. But whether the S63tu can have one remains a question.
