Trunk Spoiler Installation

I purchased a OEM CS Carbon Trunk Spoiler during the black Friday sales. It has been over 5 years since I installed a spoiler and the last one was on a Mustang with tape and bolts. With that in mind I have a couple of noobie questions.

The spoiler came without tape and everyone says to use 3M VHB tape but there are a lot of different VHB tape out there. Are the ones at the local auto stores such as the 03614C what I want or is there a better choice? https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...3614/7100055-P. Some posts say to use 3M 6395 Acrylic Plus tape and others 3M 5952 VHB tape.

Here in NC the daily high temperature is in the low 50s. In searching on Google a lot of people say to wait until spring to attach the spoiler, what do you all think? My garage isn't heated but I could always pay a local shop to install the spoiler in their heated garage. There is 3M VHB LSE tape which is white and is supposed to attach down the 30s but I don't see anyone mentioning using something like that.

There is also always the option of using betalink / sikaflex but it sounds like this method would damage the paint.

skip betalink, it is easy to install but you can wait till it's warmer and search on YouTube, tons of F90 spoiler installs.

also worth to buy 3M Adhesive promoter

I utilized the 3M route, after a year it seems to be holding up well. Had a buddy use the betalink and while he said it was a little messy the end result is solid.
I wouldn't pay someone to instal, its super easy. Hardest part is cleaning off the old goo from the factory spoiler. I installed when it was around 50-60 out and that doesn't seem to have effected it.

Thanks for the info.

I also picked up the OEM M Performance front splitter which does require betalink so I am going to have some on hand. I may put a dab on the ends of the spoiler just for good measure.

I might pick up a Presto HeatDish Plus Parabolic Heater from Costco so I can keep the car warm when attaching the components in the winter.

Feel free to check out this video of us installing a trunk spoiler. It is a different trunk spoiler for a different car, but the technique is the same. I hope this is helpful. In case you need to remove a spoiler, I'll attach our removal video too.

Spoiler? The wife got me one from Amazon. Fit was spot on and carbon looks good as well. Have had it on for about a year and a half no issues so far.

Two things:

#1 - why the heck is the M5 CS spoiler part number nearly impossible to find?

#2 - on my i4, the awesome CS like BMW carbon fiber spoiler has a pre-cut 3M adhesive tape that is available that fits it PERFECTLY. It's $156 and comes from the magic land of "geerrrmany" but it's AWESOME. Why isn't this available for this? WHY?

Real OEM hasn't been updated since 2020 I think, part numbers for everything are now a pain to find. Stinks.
