X-Pipe differences, if any (sound)

I have secondary downpipes and an AWE track Catback. I was wondering if replacing the AWE midpipe (x-pipe) with a Dinan X-Pipe would change the sound any? Do any of you have this setup?

Why would it? The AWE has a merge very similar to the Dinan. If you want it to be less loud, I would buy a muffled exhaust or a muffled and valved exhaust. I like the muffled and valved option. Plenty of choices, from $1800 to $8500.

I don’t want it to be quiet. I want the high pitch exotic V8 sound. Like that one

If you like that and that guy has the Dinan x pipe and otherwise the same mods as you, then just copy him. If you have just secondaries, I would guess you don’t have a tune and my guess is that guy has a tune and probably also has primaries. The primaries change the sound a little and the tune can increase the burbles and thus change the sound. I just would not expect much difference going from the AWE merge to the Dinan merge.

+1 if you want a sound like the one in the video, just copy his setup.

It will change the weight of your wallet that's about it. If you want a change go with a H pipe.

We had a nice discussion in this thread https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2090847

Your car probably already sounds very close to that car, because you have very similar mods. Every exhaust video online should be taken with a grain of salt, especially F90 exhaust videos. These cars sound a lot more different on video compared to irl. My car literally sounds trash on my iPhone videos, but irl it feels like my body cells are about to disintegrate because of all that low end bass that pretty much no consumer grade microphone can capture correctly.

Fair enough. Thank you. I’ll stick with the awe and send back the Dinan.

5_chill Your car sounds really good, I think this is the sweet spot in terms of exhaust mods for the F90. Not too much, but still aggressive enough to be worthy of the "M" badge.
