Where is Waldo Screen on Startup
This is my first time with CarPlay in a BMW, but its pretty frustrating how it can't figure out which screen to display when you start the car. Anyone have a trick to keep the screen the same on start as you left it when you turned the car off?
I'm only using one key, so it has nothing to do with the profile stuff. Seems I can be listening to SiriusXM on the Presets. Turn off the car, get back in and I'm suddenly looking at the CarPlay screen, or I'm looking at CarPlay text messages, or it is on FM. It happens no matter how I left the car, it seems to randomly select a source or screen to show me when I get back in. Its always a media screen or a CarPlay screen, but only 25% of the time is it the same screen that was showing when I shut the car down. Really annoying to have to go back through all the sources just to get back to where you left off. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the CarPlay integration as it won't do this if I keep the iPhone in the house. Curious if anyone else noticed this, has a work around or if this is just one of those things that we may have ironed out with a software update in the future. The trick is.. don't use carplay. it fucking sucks.
i tested out the abomination of a feature on our new 530e and there's nothing in there i'd want to use over the standard nav. |

Anyone lese care to comment? I'm on the fence about adding this $300 feature to my M5 order.

I use it all the time and love it. I don’t use anything else so it’s always on the apple car play screen unless I need the switch to idrive to adjust a véhicule setting.
Only issue is if I’m listening to a game on the radio and I go online to check the score it kicks me out of the radio and goes back to my Spotify |

The super annoying thing it does for me is if I check twitter or email on my phone while listening to Sirius, it kicks me off Sirius and starts playing music from my iTunes library for some strange reason.

I’m a big Apple fan and I thought I’d love it, but it’s pretty awful.
I would appreciate it more except iDrive is so good now. If there was Waze integration I think that would be a game changer, but there isn’t. I’m just going to disable it. |

The best part of this whole issue (whether you like the CP or not) is that on a $100,000 plus car they actually charge $300 for the Apple Car play....WTF?
But I have not found many comments about the stereo? How is that? Mike

I believe Ferrari charges $1900 for car play.

I have not had any issue with the Bose system in my RS6 for the past 15 years. I guess I am not that picky. The stereo in the M2 does not have a very loud Max volume so when driving with the windows open on the highway I can't really hear it that well, as I can in my older car. Mike
