McLaren/Merc/Farrari are coming.
Checo is doing just fine. This past weekend was a return to good form for him. Had he not had a Q3 mess, he'd easily have had the #3 spot.

Checo is definitely mentally demoralized by Max. Not a knock against him personally, I like him, but a fact. Same thing that happened to Gasly and Albon.

His overall performance this year has been much less than what he is capable of, similar to Ricciardo in his last year at MCL going against Lando.

I am sure Alonso would do much better in the RB than Checo, in the same way he would have done much better than Vettel at Ferrari 2017-2018.

Add Ricciardo to that list.

That's the conundrum. If you have two greats like Senna and Prost (and Alonso and Hamilton), you have an utter bloody mess in your hands. So the second best option is to have one great and one alright driver. And buy therapy sessions for the latter. Oh well.

Massa and Stroll too were destroyed by Alonso, Barrichello by Schumacher, Webber by Vettel, etc.

I love Alonso but he has a history of not playing well with others. I think I'll just trust Christian Horner to get it right, he has a pretty good track record.

True ! That was the moment when MAX braked (a little) too late .
MAX is alway's watching the big screens ...
He said , but this time it was very entertaining

When MAX gets a Lambiase onboard radio , he can hear from the background noises if there's a Merc or a Ferrari in the pitlane .

GL does well to play 'green green grass' because of Jos, he could also try 'It's not unusual' by the same singer referring to his stranglehold on the win streak

The plot thickens in why Charlie's car went 'mental' on the warm up lap, while Ferrari said a hydraulic problem Chas now says he doesn't think it was, he knows what it is now but denies it was a hydraulic fault yet is not saying as 'it is too complex' with the rears locking up at the same time.
That's all fine if he wants to keep it secret but the consequences of it happening at full speed must make some fans 'in the know' shudder.

While I agree ALO would probably take to the RB car better, there are other factors that are decided off the track in the cold light of day and it's not all about how a driver performs on track but I wish ALO every luck in trying to get that seat in RB, it's good that he is playing his own mind games to shuffle the pack also in making his own case as you don't get ahead in F1 by being quiet.

Caught this article just now with driver Russell, also being Director of the GPDA giving his views of how F1 needs to steer through the minefield of world issues that try to impact on our sport. Well chosen words I thought by the Merc star.

If you watch his onboard camera during the formation lap, his car was giving him trouble from the beginning, doesn't sound good. Then his engine locked up, you can hear it go silent, then he tries steering into the corner and spun because clearly his rear tires were locked up. It wasn't hydraulics, it was an engine failure, which obviously led to the hydraulics being useless.

Probably Fred V told him to keep quiet when he returned to the box as there is enough embarrassment with it happening on the WU lap and of course it doesn't take an expert to work out if PU locks then you have no PAS and gearbox, you are just a passenger.

Could be that a newly-programmed, sophisticated setup for the launch control system activated itself falsely, thinking Chas was at the green lights already, and due to the low speed its degree of blocking the rear wheels (which would've fit to a full-throttle start), blocked them to zero?

Yes I agree. In similar cases the starting order after a red flag have been the position on the track 1 lap before the main crash, so that would've been the starting grid.
I have no idea why they didn't went for that.

I'm not going to pretend to know much about that system, but his engine went completely silent a few moments before the turn, doesn't seem like a launch system to me because you wouldn't want a launch system to lock up the entire PU, but who knows. I just went back through F1TV to see what happened.
