I'm looking for some input on a potential lease of either a 2019 or 2020 M5 CP. With the options I want, Executive and Drivers Package, Bowers & Wilkins Sound System, the MSRP with taxes comes to $120,745 via the BMW calculator.

A local dealer here in the LA area has a 2019 M5 CP with the specs I want for MSRP $125,020, which with all discounts and lease credits they are offering for $118,023 ($115,420 adjusted price) - $1,749 monthly (incl. taxes), $0 down + $3,342 drive-off.

Going by True Car, which lists the average price for a similar spec'd car at around $117,000, and a good price at around $113,000, this does not seem like a great deal, but maybe I'm not aware of something here.

I'm going to another dealer tomorrow that has been great in the past, to see what offer they can make me, if I order a new 2020, I'm just looking for some general opinion on what a good price/rate for the vehicle I'm looking for would be - Thank you!

I would be shooting for atleast 10-12% on a 19. I just ordered MY20 & got 9% off.

Thank you, that sounds promising! I don't get the feeling that this particular dealer with the 2019 is willing to do that, but I will see what my regular dealership can offer on a new order of a 2020 tomorrow.

It's a pretty poor offer. How long has the car been on the lot? Either way, on a 19 I'd be shooting for 12-14% off right now before incentives.

Expand your search radius, and don't physically visit the dealerships - do all negotiation over email/text/phone, more efficient that way.

Thank you, that is not a bad idea!

That particular dealer is indirectly claiming that there are no discounts on the 2020s (which is why I'm glad I checked this forum, where a lot of people seem to be getting steep discounts on ordered 2020s), but I'm seeing if they're willing to do 12% off - unfortunately I doubt they'd be willing to do it before incentives, which is why I'm thinking to just check with other dealers on 2020s.

Also, they have many M5s in stock, which they park uncovered on an open space (it was painful to see the cars caked in dirt when I was test driving, I feel they should at least put car covers on them, if they can't have covered *******. (Edit: I'm not sure why the word P.A.R.K.I.N.G. needs to be censored?)

That dealer is trying to sell you a 19 from their lot - what do you think he's going to tell you? This is going to sound a bit harsh but dealer opinions during negotiation are worthless - there's a ton of bias/agenda and they're completely immaterial. Only facts matter. Tell them where they need to be to close a deal, and if they don't agree, move on. They need you to buy their car more than you do, and you have all the leverage. Be firm and polite, but put control in your court: tell them the target, don't ask for their best offer (once you've done research, you'll know what's attainable).

How did everyone do over Labor Day? I am in TX where leasing is notoriously bad but I came close on 2 different 19s. My local dealer would not go more than 7k off on a 111k noncomp that was in color and packages that I wanted. I pushed hard. They wouldnt go to .00145 MF until I told them I had it at 2 other places. Another TX dealer was doing better discount on comp with more packages (closer to 9%) but couldnt get there on sat and we are closed Sun in TX. 12% plus seems impossible down here. I am looking out of state also. I gave up on Sat and figured I will wait for Sept incentives/promotions to move these 19s. Any info on Sept programs out yet?

sept programs probably will be out later this week. first dealer needs to honor base MF if your credit allows. if not, tell them to suck it. dont support dealers like that

So you contacted only 2 dealers? Yeah, you'll need to cast a wider net. 12% (+ base MF) is definitely doable, but won't have every dealer lining up for it. And you may need to go remote/out-of-state.

No had been in touch with a few more, but was focusing on certain color combos and hoping to do a closer dealer. I have done out of state deal hunting before but was getting impatient this time around. So far it looks like all the cars I had been looking at are still in inventory so will wait and watch the sept incentives. Many dealers are listing 2020 inventory online but without formal photos which makes me think those cars are not on the ground yet. Has anyone actually taken delivery of MY20?

folks that have already leased/bought - are you also adding the wear/tear package (brakes/pads/wipers ~$1200)? the SA swore that there was no way that i wouldnt get to the end of my lease (36/10k) without needing new brake pads. this is my first m5, but i didn't need to replace anything like that on my f-type that i drove pretty hard so i'm curious what others' experiences have been.

i always take tire insurance, i see no need for anything else. i think stock pads will be fine for 30k miles, assuming it doesn't see a road course, and you drive like a sane person, 70% of the time

Residuals on MY19s are almost horrifying.
I did see the MF improved for Semptember. (0.00145 >>> 0.00128)
18s around this time of the year last year were +6% on residuals on respective mileage allowance.
Does anyone think BMWFS will enhance this by the end of the year?

They were even worse at the beginning of MY19

Hard to predict. Seems like BMW prefers to give incentives rather than increase RV.

If you or a household member owns a BMW currently, you'll be eligible for the loyalty discount.

Or owned/leased within last 12 months, I believe.
