They can't call it X0 and somewhere they feel they need another SUV

What are BMW doing to the brand that was ONCE known as The Ultimate Driving Machine.

What with the current drivel of models coming out now (2020 M135i for example) and this monstrosity, its like they have lost all that was once good about themselves.

They have been chasing Audi for several years now. From the drivetrain choices down to the model line up. This new X0 is aimed at the Q2. As if the Q3 wasn't small enough.

The market wants an SUV and mascareding a station wagon with a 1" lift and selling as an SUV is working well for auto manufacturers.

Well to be fair SUV vs wagon I really don't see the point about the wagon.

Um, am I missing something? Doesn't this vehicle already exist?

BMW doesn't need more model proliferation. It is completely out of control.

Lol...

No seriously. BMW is indistinguishable from the others now. Saw a new 330i on the road locally a few days ago and my first thought was, wow, that new Hyundai looks decent. Got closer and saw the roundel, total letdown.

So another X2, but this time with a 102" wheelbase instead of 105". Riiight. Why not save the development cost and instead just lower the price of the X1 and X2 and blow the competition out of the water? Or are there really enough stupid people in the world who want a "utility" vehicle, then go out of their way to buy the smallest one possible? FFS, BMW, just save your R&D budget and let the Golf Sportwagen handle this one! Just say no.

Saw a new G20 3 series. Didn't even look like a BMW from the rear/sides, looked like a Japanese/Lexus car. I couldn't even get myself to look at the front with the horrid grills.

I barely see that the new 1 series, X1 and X2 all need to exist, this would just confuse the situation even more.

X1/2 exist because not everyone wants a Honda or Mazda SUV. I don't like large vehicles but I do like the ease of getting in and out of SUVs. I like being high enough to not be completely blinded by another car on the road. I like being able to fit things like a futon or 60" tv into my vehicle, to be able to haul trim and other longish items, and ocassionally throw 5 people in with relative comfort.

Durp de durrr, I'm stupid.

He wasn't saying that none of the three vehicles he mentions should exist.

He was questioning the logic of having all three, and now adding yet another one on top of that.

Yep exactly The X3 has plenty to differentiate itself as it is quite a bit bigger and has 6 cylinder options plus it is rated for a lot higher towing capacity. But the 1 series, X1 and X2 are all virtually the same in my mind.

Perhaps this urban X thing might be BEV and/or PHEV as the only option to be a smaller option than the iX3. Perhaps BMW think that a unique car that is associated with being a BEV or PHEV only is a better option than trying to market the X1 or X2 with hybrid options.

Much like when celebs drove Priuses before the Model S came out.
