By making the front look like a Hyundai Santa Fe. I love the X7. Was gonna lease one to replace the wife’s X5. Now I just can’t. Pretty sure the wife threw up in her mouth when she saw it too. So I now have to find a gently used pre lci. Without the terrible split headlight design that no one likes and the iDrive 8 which is super glued on the dash like a Lego set.
Whole reason I left Mercedes after my C55 was because MB went to this stuck on dash iPad look for a decade which was just awful. But that’s not exclusive to the X7. Just bmw trying to be futuristic without actually giving any thought to design.

Good luck getting those rear fenders and that stance and fitment from the factory.

EDIT — I understand this is a render, but let’s make it look realistic, please.

Yeah, I prefer the buttons on my F90 M5 that I can access.

Hard pass on M5 station wagon. The lights have a E60 vibe.

Funny that’s precisely why I got a G82 rather than the F90. While it’s a nice looking sedan I didn’t go that route because it doesn’t look any different from the regular 5 series. Some people like that but I think more potential owners want more aggressive looks/styling .

The styling of a vehicle will always be subjective and as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. BMW’s design approach has me looking towards Porsche at the Panamera to replace my 18 M5 (F90) that I purchased in August of 2018. Prior to the M5 I had a 15 BMW M3 (F80). I received an email from BMW wishing me a happy 5 years of ownership with my M5. I have owned more Corvettes than BMW’s dating back to the C4 Corvette (1984 – 1996) that I purchased in 1991, yes, I am old. I believe in changing with the times and I enjoyed the body style changes of the Corvette but there were many that did not approve of the transition from circle rear tail lights of the C6 to non-circular tail lamps on the C7 Corvette.

Back to BMW in 2002 right before I retired from the military my wife wanted a BMW 5 series and one test drive converted me over to the Bavarian Motor Works platform. My wife did not need a M car but I wish we would have purchase an E39 M5 because it would be still in the garage as I type this reply. We purchased a new 2002 525i manual transmission with all the bells and whistles. Not a fast car but a fun and good-looking vehicle. I enjoyed the brand so much I gave up my beloved 1995 Corvette with only 30k miles in 2005 for a 2005 BMW 330CI ZHP 2-door manual but it was short lived due to the number 3 ignition coil failing and the vehicle was eventually purchased back since the problem could not be rectified.

My wife of 37 years has still not forgiven me for selling the F80 M3 when I purchased the F90 M5. I told her I would but her the upcoming (back in 2018) M3 G80 when it was released. Once we saw the pictured of the current M3 it was a huge no go due to the front grill design and now the wide screen PC monitor dash looks out of place. We thought that maybe the G87 M2 would be the way to go but we are not a big fan of the front and rear design. We are currently considering a Audi RS3 as her next vehicle, it has a proper dash and while it would not be my first choose it will be her vehicle to drive. As they say, happy wife happy life.

My uncle who is in his early 80’s is a big JDM guy, he has a 2001 Acura Integra Type R he will never sell and he just purchased 2023 Honda Civic Type R as his now daily driver. He did not care for the styling design of the previous Honda Civic Type R.
While there are some that might desire the overly aggressive design approach of the current BMW line-up and soon to be released vehicles, I am not one of those people. I would buy a new BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe since the design is elegant and not over the top and still maintains a proper dash. Those of us that are looking to spend the coin in the area over $150k have other manufacturers such as Porsche that has kept the timeless design of the 911 and is still selling very well to this day.

In closing at the end of the day drive the vehicle that when you exit and walk away and you turn around and look back at your vehicle you smile because you like/love the looks of the vehicle. Unfortunately, BMW in the eyes of my wife and I have missed the mark with most of their vehicles and we are looking at Porsche and Audi. Enjoy the ride.

The below attached picture was from my ZHP 330CI that I had to order since there were none to be found with a manual transmission, it is still a great looking vehicle today. BMW take note and get back to the basics in vehicle design.

I'm going to reserve my judgment until I see the new M5. It took over a year for the F90 to grow on me and now I think it's a beautiful car. We'll see if the new M5 does the same.

Bumper is way too busy (looks like a body kit on some JDM Sedan) but other than that it doesn’t look bad.

Definitely a great looking sedan. I wonder how the F90 will be viewed in the future.

F90 was the first M5 I’ve liked since the E39. In another 15-20 years we may have another good looking version.
