M1 to M3 as Cayman S to Carrera?
I have been hearing arguments to how the M1 (if ever in production) could be harmful to the M3, or maybe not. I figured rather than discussion being scattered over the forums it could be located here since I am very curious about it as well.
-So could the M1 stomp on the M3's toes, like the Cayman S's potential to do so on the Carrera? (read: ...by creating a "cheaper" monster, that would ruin the flagship M3...) -Or is it a different animal, with different demographics of buyers, price range, dynamics, function, etc...? Cayman S is the best car Porsche makes south of $100k.
M1 (if released) would be the best handling, nimblest and probably the fastest (if not stock, then with mild tuning) M car until TT V8s M5/M6 rolls around. M3 buyers - rich, afflient looking for sport GT, simbol car. M1 - mostly younger audience and track addicts and some kids who won't eat enough just to save on M1 payments. |
