List the lovely quirk(s) of your E90!
Quirks have no negative effect on the overall enjoyment of the vehicle, it's merely something that's a bit weird and gives the car its own personality.
I'll start: having to press the clutch in while shutting off the engine so it doesn't make that horrible noise. |

The "death rattle" when shutting down the engine without pushing in the clutch would be one. But you'd already mentioned it...
So, having thought hard for another "quirk", does opening the rear windows accidentally when meaning to open the front ones count?

But for some of us, it makes a difference whether we depress the clutch or not when shutting down the engine. It has to do with the flywheel, I don't remember all the details... You can try and see if you have the problem. Next time when you park indoors (eg. garage, underground parking where the sound can be reflected back to you), open the window a bit and then shut off the engine with and then without pushing the clutch pedal. If you don't notice a difference, then you're OK.

you're already in neutral when you shut down right? If you're in neutral, there's something crazy wrong if you're having an issue. have you guys driven stick before? (not flaming you guys, just curious, seems like if you're in neutral it shouldn't matter if the clutch is pressed or not) |

Yes in neutral, and it rattles 50% of the time when I shut down the engine, so I just decided to press the clutch anyway. |

I think I made a thread when I first heard the noise ....... lol, and I remember some members replying with "yeah yeah I have that noise too, what the heck?" so I decided it was normal since it wasn't affecting anything. |

I've only shut the thing down in neutral without the clutch pedal pressed in, never had a strange sound happen on shut down at all I've got about 8000 miles on the clock so far maybe you guys are unlucky in having a "death rattle", maybe your motor is built tighter than mine........... I've never pushed the clutch in while turning the engine off |

no handles for the trunk, it can get a bit annoying after i clean the car, but otherwise i close it by pressing the license plate.

just remember to get your hand out of the way first. this is how most of us do it. you don't have to touch the exterior at all.
