Oil Temperature 120Deg C

Anyone know why the F90 M5 runs at 120DegC??

80-100DegC has been the "normal" oil temperature for as long as I can remember, high enough to allow contaminants to burn off but low enough to not over stress the oil.

I know modern synthetic oils can happily run around 140DegC but with reduced lifespan. Given we run long life oil it seems 120 is a tad high??

something something emissions, sacrificing long term reliability of the engine for 1 extra mpg if that.
