M5 sitting at port for 6 weeks and counting

Sup!

I'm going on 6 weeks of my car sitting at Port Hueneme in Oxnard, CA with a RAM stop sale - got there on 12/04. I've been told that because my car is equipped with Bowers & Wilkins sounds system, the chip / part needed is harder to come by so the wait is longer. On a few different threads I've seen maybe 2 other members wait as long as I have. Just wanted to see if there's anyone else out there in the same situation.

My M8 has been sitting at the factory since 11/23. They haven't even shipped it yet. Same issue, B&W….

Yea look at the thread called RAM Resolution Time. It's about this issue and a mix of people waiting different lengths of time so far and a few with B&W in the mix. I'm at 3.5 weeks myself. It's been snow and shitty weather here so I'm kind of glad it didn't come last week for example.

I'm assuming you have B&W yourself?

No, waiting for a CS. Just HK in it.

It's funny how different ports have different times... my first car was done in 2 weeks at port Charleston, port jersey has been quick according to friends, and there are some of you guys that are just waiting and waiting... just out if curiosity, do you have any MPP parts added? Like what are the chances they're just putting off your car while waiting for those parts to arrive???

Yup, I’m one of the people in that thread. Just figured I’d start a different thread for the people that are really getting deep into their wait time. 2-3 weeks seems “normal” in todays general delay of things - but 5+ weeks is just crazy.

No MPP parts. The manager at my dealership has been calling his contact at the port (supposedly), and he says it’s only waiting on the RAM which is 3 different parts. 3 weeks ago they told me “sorry, 2nd week of January the part comes for sure and within a few days we’ll have it for you”. Now today they’re telling me they have no ETA on the missing part.

Interesting so then it truly is just the RAM. Crazy stuff. My car is scheduled for production so I'm hoping by the time my car is ready to go this is resolved. Sorry you gotta deal with this.

I hope yours comes soon. I'm 3 weeks stuck at the port of exit in Germany.

So far 3 ships have left with an itinerary that include NJ/ NY, but I doesn't seem like I'm in any of them. Genius and the dealer have no insight and I don't see anything listed in the recall link (yet).

Something is fishy... if they have the parts at some ports and not others they'd have sent some over instead of having you wait that long.... did you call the bmw genius at all? I'd escalate this on twitter, they usually get stuff done lol. I mean imagine if my new car got here, and got the ram before yours... then you KNOW someone isn't telling the truth

i'm starting to think something is fishy. it's all too inconsistent. my car was at the port for 2 weeks where everything was resolved.

What port were you at? most people had their recalls done in 1-3 weeks

crap, i can't remember the build week now, probably because it changed several times. it got to port on dec 7 or 8 and was at the dealer (niello) 2 weeks later. B&W, and m performance parts were installed (exhaust and carbon stuff).

i've been tracking these various posts and i can't find any consistencies. it's weird.

I would try to find out other cars that went to Baltimore and how long they stayed and other people that arrived after you. I mean you can't be one of the only 2-3 people with a car that went to baltimore...

At Baltimore since December 10th. Like others have said, not a whole lot of communication from BMW and CA's and GENIUS are in the dark.
