Wheel/tire insurance or extended maintenance, will I need it?
Picking up my 19 M5 on Monday.
I know I'll be offered both. I'm doing a 24 month lease but drive a lot....like 20-23k miles per year. How much are these normally and can they be negotiated? My M550i has had a horrible time with tires and rims......bubbles in the run flats and bent rims from potholes. I've probably replaced 4-5 tires due to bubbles. That being said, when I had my M6 GC before my M550.....I never once had a tire or rim issue besides normal wear replacement. I checked the specs and the M550i tires are more low profile than the M5 tires.....so I am thinking I will be OK with the thicker sidewall of the M5 tires? As for maintenance.....I actually have 44k on my M550i and it has not needed pads or rotors, yet (and I am very heavy on the brakes). Can I get through my lease on the M5 without needing the same?

My math was based on Geico's coverage on wheels and since tires are not covered, how many tires I will have to blow before I recover my money. My deductible with my insurance is $100. |
