I would need a build code for each one for the proper MSRP and your zip code to do a proper estimate.

Lease rates appear to be very bad right now, making BMW Select much more attractive and affordable if your State participates in the program

Hi Dan, thank you for your transparency in this process. I'm sure (most) of us understand yes profits are reasonable when we don't make the BMW's ourselves I am hopefully soon taking delivery of my 2022 M5 Comp. Here is the spec summary, please help advise.

After reviewing here anywhere from targets of 8-9% off to 3-4% 'realistic' for M cars, and I know its worse negotiating for custom build orders.. Can somebody advise me on what to ask for (far reach goals) and hard line goals? (before rebates, as I'll get loyalty etc). I am open to either Buying or Leasing. doesn't matter too much to me, although paying off the lease amount (renting for 3 yrs) gets me zero monthly payment cost. I put high miles on my current M340xi ~20k/year so would consider buying extra miles (0.27 cents/mi x 60-45k= 15k x0.27= 4,050 extra). Anyways that's another discussion.

Asking for help in terms of seeing through all the smoke + getting the best MSRP negotiating possible. I could hint I'd go the finance route if they'd give me a better deal, if that is a significant incentive for them, AKA a better discount for me.

Any possibility of hitting 130,000 (11,210 off) before tax?

They are not wanting to budge on MSRP at all. They said they're doing a kindness by not marking it up 10k, which is a total nonstarter for me just on principle. All I seem to be able to do is push for my expected/desired value of trade-in on my current car, of course that initial offer was undercut by 3.5k already.

You've already ordered the car. Honestly, you should have negotiated before the car went into production. The dealership knows that once you see the car you are going to want it even more.

Don't expect much of a discount at all. They know that if you walk they can sell it quickly to someone else.

I was recently in the market for a new M5. I talked to my local dealer and they would order a new car for me at MSRP but the delivery time was 6-9 months. Not wanting to wait that long, I spent about a month looking at Autotrader to see what was available across the country. I contacted multiple dealers and all wanted between $5k and $10k over MSRP. I finally found a car coming in September from a dealer ~ 200 miles away. They wanted $5k over MSRP, but it came with PPF over the front half of the car. I was able to negotiate that down to $4k. Considering I can get the same PPF locally for ~$2.5-$3k, I was ok spending an extra $1.5k and getting the car in September vs next year.

Considering my experience, I don't think you will be able to get them below MSRP.

I placed a 2.5% below MSRP deal for an ordered M5C in early March of this year, with a signed P+SA to lock in pricing at my dealer who I had a preexisting relationship with. My initial production was Week 26. It quickly became Week 26, then 31, then 36, then 41. Concerned that I might not receive the new car before my (then) existing pre-LCI lease expired, I started searching throughout the whole country. I did eventually find my exact build sitting at a dealership about 1000 miles away in mid-May. The dealer wanted $15K ADM. After 9 days of relentless back and forth telephone negotiations, I got them to give me the car at MSRP. Also, I did have some trade equity from my previous car. We all know that the numbers presented by dealers are a matter of perception. It may seem like they're giving you more money off the car, but they devalue your trade. Or, they over value your trade, and give you less off the price of the car. But I was able to get the MSRP deal and got the dealer to match the highest trade equity number I got from about a dozen different dealers I shopped at.

Again, not fantastic, but not bad at all for the current climate, FOR GETTING A CAR RIGHT NOW, no wait. Drove my car to them the next day, finished up paperwork, and my enclosed carrier picked up the car the next morning. I even got the dealership to split the cost with me. I flew home that afternoon and the car was delivered to me the next day.

All this to say that in this climate, you're not going to get a "great" deal — especially as compared to the 11% off MSRP I got on my pre-LCI back in 2019. However, if you're willing to open up your search geographically, and depending on your build, find something on a dealer's lot that is mostly similar to you desired build, you absolutely can still avoid some of these insane markups AND not wait 9+ months for an ordered M5 to reach your hands. These cars are uncommon/not widely available of course, but there ARE dealers around that, if you know how to negotiate hard enough, you won't be paying crazy markups.

As a side point. The dealership experience where my new car was located was in fact the worse experience I've never had acquiring a vehicle. But who cares, I'll never see them again. Their nonsense was worth getting the exact car I wanted, now, without lining the dealer's pocket without a 15K (or any!) ADM.

This is not relevant to OP now as his order has already been placed, but if you're looking for a new M5, just make peace with the fact that it might not be available as you want it at your local dealership, but is possibly available elsewhere. I should note that my build was with more common colors (BSM over black merino with black 706M wheels), so this likely won't be the case if you've ordered a more unique color combination.

Raging ADMs are the new normal, and will be for a while, but you CAN in fact acquire a new M5 for a reasonable (in this climate) deal, if you work the process hard enough.

Just my 0.02. I hope this helps others.

Car market is getting softer " interest rates , inflation etc" .
It will continue in this direction the next several months
WE don't know the pace of market decline. Certain models/brands will be slower/faster as compared to others
Models that depreciated at a fast pace pre-covid will lead the group and M5 is in that category
BMW tend to over produce and volume selling have led to great deals on Lease Hackr
I miss my 2019 F90 so I recently checked a new 2022 M5 and did not buy because the dealer offered 2% discount .
2023 cars are on ships ,
for a 2023 I might pay MSRP or will accept a small discount like 2 %
but certainly not on a 2022
I called few dealers and most have 2023 coming that are unsold , so that to me is a sign that market is correcting
Dealers will need some time for a reality check as most are in a mode that they are doing you a favor by selling you a car
If you wait few months I am certain deals are going to get better , but your trade in will be less
again people might argue some of these points like companies will not over produce as they are selling cars without having dealer lots full of cars etc.I don't buy into that myself

Man these prices lately are on another planet. Do you and Dan see this going on much longer? Impending (read: inevitable) recession notwithstanding. We need a car, but I'm tempted to wait til year end and find a stealership that needs a sale to get some big bonus.

BMW Financial follows the fed rates, personally I assume rates will continue to rise in an effort to curb the recession.

Even if my some miracle manufacturers can overcome the supply chain barries and produce more cars, the federal reserve will still make borrowing money expensive, thus affecting money factor
