I could write you an entire essay on why i'd rather lease. But bottom line is, i dont want to own a 120k machine that's worth 55 in 4 years, then deal with it out of warranty. I personally would never buy a new vehicle, it's either lease, or CPO. CPO is a nice medium if you don't like the "lease" option.

Not sure why leasing or buying figures in to a decision to PPF or not ... you correct the paint once and PPF and forget about it. I can assure you that if you care about how your car looks you'll spend as much during the course of the lease as you would have on scratches, correction, wax, dents etc. Maintaining a PPF is a joke and the car always looks good; try maintaining a dark colored car.

My car has Xpel PPF and I paid nowhere near $6k.

you'd be surprised what dummies do
Do the math T; maybe for someone like you that can do most of the maintenance / repair not a big deal. I know what I spent in the 3 years I owned my last F10 M5 on repairing rock chips, dents, scratches, correction, wax etc and will simply say I'll be saving $ by having chosen PPF. The car always looks great and is a simple to maintain. It's already done it's job where it took a scratch and all I needed to do was pour some hot water on the PPF and scratch gone.

A good investment IMO regardless of whether you lease or buy.

Good for dummies .....

Not sure how people treat their cars in 30-36 months lease, but the paint and finish will hold up if washed and treated appropriately, and yes people are paying north if $5k for the complete car. I just don't see the point, maybe front end to prevent rock chips, but whole car seems like a waste especially if leasing for 30-36 months. It's just a car and as you said it depreciates nearly 50% in 3 years, I can see spending the money if it were a $250k car.

This is my 5th dark M5 and the first I've PPF'd and I can tell you it's night and day .... I use to share your opinion until I tried it. Either way, to each his own.

I suppose, but i just hate the fact of putting more money into a lease that isn't needed. I understand folks wanting to protect their ride, but i feel like it could be done for less imo.

ppf does not protect from dents
I just returned my E63 S leased car with no ppf .. drove it 37 k miles with only couple of rock chips but other wise car always was perfect
also I did not PPf my f10 M5 and sold it after a year and was perfect ..
full ppf in our area is around 5 k , as prices go down may be 1500 dollars or so , it might be worth it

PPF does protect against dents especially very small ones like door dings... a huge dent will not be stopped by PPF.

Like most topics on here this one has overstayed it's welcome .... i feel it's worth spending $3.5K to protect a $128K car and have it always look good. Not everyone sees it this way and that's cool as well.

Just a plus $.02-
I was at my Mercedes dealership yesterday, obviously not the cheapest place to go, and they were only charging $2500 to do a large car.

I contacted my CA and money factor did move lower and is now .00165. Residuals however remain the same.

that is good news, i'll relock the app and be good for 60 days, as the car will likely get here 1st week in June. So that will give bmw one more chance to spike that residual a little bit.

What's going on guys? No one making any deals? no post in 10 days. Cars.com shows 500 new cars on the ground. I know my local dealers (Dallas) are not making any worthwhile deals. Seems to be the same elsewhere. When does the factory support come? They have to move these.
