M5 0-60 time seems slow

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2020 M5 and decided to try out a 0-60 with my buddies wifi lap timer. We hooked it up, and I smashed down on the gas, and first try on start up it said 3.65 and then second try 3.95. I did have a passenger and I just bought my new Michelin pilot sport 4S and haven't installed them, so I'm on the crappy pirellis. My car certainly feels a lot faster when I first start driving in the morning while the oil is cool, and when I'm alone, but those times seem very slow . I have M perf exhaust and MSR intake right now. Something I noticed..... when I slammed down on the gas hard, there was a major lag, and it seemed like the turbo didn't kick it for quite sometime before it started going. Then later I removed the lap timer and eased on the gas and it launched way harder, even when I didn't fully floor it right away, rather pressed a bit more slowly for half a second then slammed down, getting a much better result (I felt that way at least).

Any thoughts?

Not very clear if you used launch control, that alone should shave half a second of your time

And what is that wifi lap timer, you sure is accurate?

A passenger and crappy tires probably added .02-.04 to the 60. Did you build boost to launch?

What are you settings? If you are in the conservative settings the throttle, transmission, and drive logic will hinder times.

Even with Pirellis and one person you should not be at those times.

I would defo take traction off, also the LC is tricky to find the sweet spot, I found building the boost for around 2-3 secs was best, anything more and she can bog.

Also LC activates a quicker shift on the ZF, so like brava09 said make sure you get the little flag.

Didn't use launch control, and it's an expensive one, but who knows.

There's your problem. With Launch control you're doing 2.8/2.9 0-60 with 1 ft rollout.

Ok I need to do that, I just worry about doing it in city streets.

I'm not 100%, I don't know the name but I'll ask my friend.

Sport Plus everything and D3, traction on 4 wheel drive sport MDM, then turned it off.

You should get the 60-130 mph time. If you get low 8 or even high 7, your car is absolutely fine.

I had me and my three kids with carseats in the back the other day and my pirelli rears were at the wear bars and I put down a 3.3 not including rollout. Launch control is a must to get the low times. Biggest thing to make damn sure you see the flags and launch control active otherwise you're going to slam into the top of 1st gear. Have fun, be safe.

I agree, my issue was when I slammed down full throttle off the line, the turbo lag was pretty bad, but when I ease onto the gas it seems like a rocket. I'll try to launch it next time.

Using launch control will raise the revs off the line so it doesn't bog. Mating the throttle from idle is going to take a while to build boost.

I don't think you'll see any difference with new tires. I was hoping for the same. But my bald pirellis put down the exact same times as new PS4Ss. I wonder if we just have poor air quality here in SD. When I lived near SF I was always at 2.6-2.7 0-60, ever since moving here it has been low 3's-low 4's in the summer with a JB4 and meth injection. Could be the high humidity maybe.

How accurate is the wifi lap timer? Anyone here know if it's as accurate as dragy?

This too. Makes a HUGE difference in these cars for some reason. I basically just park the car if it's over 80 anymore. It's slow af in hot weather.
