Break in service on used cars

Just an FYI for everyone out there looking at used cars and dumping them instantly since there's no break in service on carfax or idrive: my car which got its break in service at 1142 miles, the dealership did NOT upload it to idrive, it's also NOT reporting on carfax, but in the bmw system it is showing my break in was completed at 1142. The tire I just got replaced 4 days ago, ironically is showing on carfax as the first service for my car. Just something to keep in mind if and when you're selling your m5s and if anyone is looking to pick up a used one, you'd have to run a report through a dealer to find out if it had services done at certain dealers that for some reason just don't report lol.

The Carfax thing requires input from the servicing dealer or shop. If they don't want to be bothered then the report is not included. If you DIY the carfaxs app will not let you add the service. It's best to get the data from the BMW dealer directly.

Not necessarily, my shop as soon as an invoice is generated carfax auto reports next day.
Only reason I made the post was because I saw some previous posts on the break in not being on carfax or idrive so thought I'd clear up that it doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't done.

I doubt all shops are hooked up with that auto entry stuff. Nothing shows on my car's CarFax.

Yeah you'd be right haha, it costs me like 80$ a month for auto reporting but it's worth it imo.

Because customers like to see oh my carfax says my service was done! I get to advertise my shop on carfax website, and I can tell people oh you don't need to go to the dealership or a big chain shop, we also report everything to carfax so when it's time to sell you'll have all your service records. Not sure how it wouldn't be worth it? Rather than send carfax an email every time I do something and hope the report it eventually.

I can see how a Good Carfax report can be helpful. But the other stuff on that Carfax may hang you in a sale. AkA, Don't Look at My Carfax report.

Not sure what you mean by that? Doesn't everyone look at a carfax when buying a car, especially a higher end one?

I mean I guess. But I could care less if "maintenance records" were in there. It's hardly the rule of things to do that it can't hardly be relied on but I can see how it could "help" give someone the warm and fuzzy.

But I would seriously hesitate to tell anyone a car is sketch just because it doesn't have maintenance records in carfax. Plus the way people look at a carfax I think is a bit misleading. It's a good place to maybe start but it shouldn't make or break anyones buying decision. Unless things were lied about.

Well, if you were looking at a car with no bmw service history, and no carfax history and one with no bmw history but oil changes every 3k on carfax at an indy shop id say its obvious which one you'd pick...

Like I wouldn't let a dealer touch my car any more than they need to considering most techs are 18 year Olds getting paid 10$ with minimal training for most jobs other than an engine swap. If I can't show records somewhere else it just looks like my car was neglected. Especially when say a tire getting replaced shows up randomly and nothing else.

Definitely agree about the dealer lol. But I trust my car to myself. If I didn't have the appetite or tools I would go to an Indy over dealer every day of the week!

Yea but is it worth it to use tractorfax? I bought a tractor once and tractorfax was paid off to hide the fact it had run over three cows.

Also is this a bot? What hell kind of reply is this lol?
