Talking My Individual Urban Green M5

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Some of you might remember this post with a DG M5 Competition... well... plans changed this week after I saw another beast!

I love my dealer!

So, after my first three years in a BMW (M135i xDrive F20) followed by four years in a VW Passat it's now time for my second BMW.

After lots of thinking about options, what I think I need, what I'd like to have and hundreds of configurations later I finally made my decision.

It won't be a fresh built - not after the new EU regulations.

I managed to get a new M5 Competition which was waiting for a new owner.

General specification:

- Individual Urban Green over Full Merino Leather (black)
- Ceramic applications
- Carbon roof
- 789 M Bicolor Wheels
- M Driver's Package
- Driving Assistant Plus
- Ambient Air
- M Performance carbon parts

Will pick it up on November 15th (on winter tires) and on the 20th it will get some XPEL protection (front only).

I'm happy to be back and to have the real sound - pre July 2019 and I hope it will stay this way (update: it did, no changes on the ECU).

I got 30% off the MRSP which is a pretty big deal here where I live.

It's nice to be back.

It won't be a fresh built - not after the new EU regulations.

I managed to get a new M5 Competition (built in April 2019) which was waiting for a new owner.

General specification:

- Donington Grey over black extended Leather
- Carbon roof
- 706 Jetblack Wheels
- Alcantara headliner
- CCBs
- M Driver's Package
- Driving Assistant Plus
- BMW Night Vision
- Active Protection
- Ambient Air and last but not least
- THE TOWING HITCH

Actually not bad in countries where people use to "park by contact".

Will pick it up on November 18th (on winter tires) and on the 20th it will get some XPEL protection (front only).

I'm happy to be back and to have the real sound - pre July 2019.

I got 30% off the MRSP which is a pretty big deal here where I live.

The only drawback: well... obviously it's not entirely the way I wanted it to be... but on the other hand it almost has everything I would have also picked for the new one... and of course the savings.

Pictures will follow the day I pick the beast up.

It's nice to be back.
Good luck with the car enjoy.

It's the end of the year, a showcar and BMW is pushing sales. 😄

Now comes the hard part...the waiting for it to arrive in port. If you don’t know, you can get the ship info from your CA and track its movement using free resources. Of which makes it that much more exciting!

Car is in a showroom one and a half hours away... will be in two weeks in "my" showroom where I signed the contract... 18 days of waiting is ok.

The M135i xDrive was my second hot hatch after the Mazdaspeed 3 and I grew out of it. I was looking for something bigger with more space also due to family planing... at leats thats what I was hoping.

Back then BMW had nothing... the 3 and 5 series were both technically "outdated" and I could not afford an M. The Passat felt new with all the gimicks it had back then and that's where they got me combined with the space it offers - you've never seen a trunk of this size on a sedan!

Ah yeah... and a BMW service guy pissed me off... "You actually know it's a VW?" and this arrogant behaviour just made me leave them - this close minded "we can do whatever we want, we are still better than other brands!". Maybe... but you don't habe to be an ass about it.

Fast forward to the end of 2018 - divorce incoming but promises were kept thus no financial impact, no kids around.

Time for a change! I started looking... C63S... E63S too expensive... Audi (the more expensive VW) had nothing at this time... and then the M5 showed up... honestly still expensive and yet reasonable compared to the Merc.

I was planing, waiting, luring and saving money... and finally pulled the trigger two days ago. Main reasons: EU regulations and the LCI is a half baked one. They could have easily added the M-specific Live Cockpit... and not the regular one and only rebrand it... holding it back for the next LCI in mid 2020. That's when I decided to break the cycle and jump for an old built but new car.

Thanks mates 🙏🏻

It's difficult to capture the color right and do its justice. The first time I saw the car I was like... nah... not my cup of tea... but it was love at third sight and the M Performance parts really go with this combo.

As for now it is one out of two in Switzerland.
