I’m clearly biased since I bought a 2020, but the new headlights really seem just generic to me. In other words worse. The slimmer taillights are cool though. That said, I do really like the chunky look of the existing ones. So maybe that’s a push in my eyes.

See I'm the opposite - while I do agree that it's sad that the angel eyes are officially dying, and I do like the G30 current icon headlights, I feel like the new headlights are sleeker, narrower, and more agressive - I really like them - so much in fact that I've finally settled that the M5 LCI will be my next car, this year or next.

It's all eye in the beholder and the 2020's are still gorgeous cars - but I loved the front end while disliking the huge taillights. And you shouldn't put much stock in my thoughts because I think the E60 LCI 550i is my favorite non-M-car 5-series.. more than my old '98 540i Wagon and way more than F10 cars.

So to each their own! I'm just finally really excited about current 5's now.

Somewhat off topic but just wanted to comment that I absolutely love this gen's Hofmeister kink. Wish the new 3-series had it.

I always see BMW testing their fleet of cars on the ring, so who purchases these vehicles when testing is over?

Not a fan of the new headlights. Look generic, very Audi-like.

The E39-esque styling cues of the F90 drew me back to the M5, after the last two M5 luxo barge looking disasters, and now it appears that BMW is once again moving away from more classic design cues to another attempt at 'modernizing'.

That's the beauty of eye of the beholder. We can all get the one we want and it's a win/win. I prefer the pre Lci so I'm happy my order is already in for a 2020.

We still have to wait for the official reveal of the Lci though. Maybe with M performance parts it will look sick.
