Finally picked up my M5 Competition today. What a car. Mainly highway driving home from the dealer, but even in Sport and Sport Plus it felt comfortable.

Thanks! They really are quite amazing. I also went with the full black interior and I like it a lot. Will have to compare notes!

Blue must be the new Black! Very nice combo, silver w the blackened exterior trim is fantastic, too. The auto journalists here in Europe go bezerk over the new M5 in generel. The M5 Competition’s dampers are 10% stiffer and makes the Competition version more stabile at high speeds. We like to read this here in northern Europe - where the Autobahn is close...Congrats!

Dave, you will not regret it for a second! One of the things that people have said in the press is that the car seems to shrink around you and it is so true. Took it to through some fun back roads today and it handled marvelously. The sound and feel is addicting.

I admit it - I was driving the car all weekend...what a machine!

This car is a serious all rounder. It is legit fast - and can be everything from super comfortable/smooth to uber track/race and everything in between (the level of settings is crazy).

A computer simulation of my car may have tested out an R8 V10 - and a few other cars - not able to shift even close to redline - as the simulated car is still not past its break in yet. And did...very well.

Chassis is so solid - handling and turn in - supercar level. Brakes are solid - and compared with the interior makes you feel you are in a purpose built performance super car.

Add the massage seats to the comfort settings and you remember again that it is a true luxury car.

The exhaust is also a nice fix - as BMW has taken some beatings there for being too muted and having too much stereo assisted sound. I find it very aggressive fully open and makes you want to stay in that mode lol.

And the colour works for me - especially when properly detailed...enjoy!

Thanks - the colour is even better in real life.

On your Competition Package comment - you raise an excellent point - I totally understand it as well, as I felt exactly the same way. And posted so when I first read what it comprised of.

The reason I personally went with it is because I will not mod this car in any way as it is my leased daily.

That said - after actually getting it and driving both cars - this is the first time that I have personally experienced that the "sum is greater than its parts" meaning.

I will not say the M5 without the Competition isn't a great car. It is without a doubt. What I am saying is that I felt a noticeable difference between the two cars at the highest settings - from the sound to the chassis and overall performance.

For someone modding - any of these components - is that a big enough deal? No - I'm sure it is easily up-gradable.

But for someone like me staying stock - I feel it was a good decision.

The only thing that bothers me with the competition M5 is the stiffer suspension.

I feel that the "regular" M5 is already stiff on our shitty roads (Belgium ...) , and I wouldn't want my daily to be even harsher.

With this being said , you have an amazing car !
