2019 F90 M5 Competition BMW Pick-Up! Review, Video and Pick Up

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Well - today was the day to actually pick the car up from Maranello BMW - and they again did a fantastic job having literally everyone there to meet me at pick up. Jonathan Tam my Sales Exec and Newel Desouza - The Dealership Manager went above and beyond to put an incredible deal together for me. They helped me follow this build every step of the way. It was a truly amazing experience. Maranello delivered.

Here are some of the preliminary pictures...some video - an inside video of the exhaust sound and review of my first hours with the car.

The car was not washed as my Detailer wanted no swirls lol.

A preliminary review will be the next post.

I believe this was the first F90 M5 CP in North America to be released to a customer.

As I said above - Jon and Newel from Maranello delivered a great experience.

It’s only been a day - but this car is fast becoming the best car I have ever driven...truly unbelievable.

The initial review of the car was easy to write...it's awesome!

I have been fortunate to drive the BMW M competitors and I can say that this car just...fits my personality compared to its competition. It is such a complete, all round car. Fun to drive and luxurious. Straight quick and such a solid chassis for road course.

The looks were fairly unassuming, but I was surprised how much the blacked out parts made a difference. I wasn't happy about the Pirelli's, but I guess it's an excuse to "replace" them shall we say...

Driving: the cars brakes are pretty impressive - and this is coming from a C7Z carbon ceramic brake owner. The car is firm, but still smooth and can even be soft when in comfort. Acceleration is impressive - even before "break in" and likely being on 91 octane from the Dealer. The chassis is TIGHT. In full on Sport plus mode - the car is immensely stable and capable. I have my two M buttons as polar opposites and I find that very useful for business driving and pleasure.
Exhaust is impressive - although still muted in the cabin. Outside - is a different story, as I scared more than a few people with it lol...

Electronic and fit and finish are top notch - and the SEATS...oh my goodness - they are GOOD! I have mine fit to my body using the bolster controls...

There will be many trips to the track for real testing - and a full professional review of this car in the coming weeks after break in is properly concluded.

Stay Tuned!

New Outside Exhaust Clip

Car goes in for detailing tomorrow - then it will be reviewed by a Team I am helping; they produce Top Gear like content on a much more efficient budget lol...

You can see me racing at 22:23 with my previous M550ix against the 2018 Corvette Grand Sport.
I think it is fair to say I do well lol...Stay tuned for this M5 CP versus...something VERY interesting...

From what I believe - CP exhaust is the same as M sport so its just different on ECU level - probably a little chiptune gets the same results in sound. Or am I wrong?

They are the same. It’s going to sound even better after 1000 miles.

I have a bunch of pics to share of my preliminary check of the car and a compressed (yes I know - it's not optimal) video of the exhaust which is MUCH louder than the non-CP F90 M5 - and has some excellent crackle to boot...

Many more pictures and videos to follow!

Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Congratulations and thanks for sharing the exhaust clip!!

NOPE my Sports exhaust sounds just the same as that in confined spaces like that car is.

My understanding from some of the reviews is that the exhaust is the same with a different tune.

This is my one disappointment. I was NOT happy to find the Pirelli's on the car instead of the PS4's...I will just have to burn them off lol...

I think the M5's exhaust CAN sound the same - but the reviews seem to suggest the Competition got some additional bass and crackle to its tune...

I would be surprised if BMW did not program in more burbles and louder burbles on the Competition M5. Easy to do and make it "Competition".

Yes, mine came with Michelin Pilot 4S tires. Not sure if being in the US makes a difference.

The exhaust clip doesn't do the car justice - it was so loud the SE stepped back instinctively when I first revved it lol...
Black looks great! Can't go wrong with it.

That is exactly my understanding lol. Same exhaust - different tune. And it makes sense - BMW has to build the M5 for the hardcore and luxury folk alike - they can take a little more risk believing the Competition buyer may be okay with louder. That said - they still kept the comfort setting comfort - something I worried about actually lol...So it is still a balance. I’m the end it’s moot - it’s the same engine with a different tune and same exhaust with a different tune. I’m not modding mine at all - so I went for the most performance I can buy from factory. The tunes coming out will be way more power - and I said as much when I was debating to get the CP.
