Wheels forged or not 19” on F90 M5
Just heard from the sales manager my 2019 M5 is in production and will be completed by July 25th. Donington grey, Aragon full merino leather. Should be in my garage mid August. From what I’ve seen wheels on all recent M5’s have always been forged. But I do not see anything that would suggest they are forged on this car. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this issue?

If I recall the 20's on the '18 are forged while the 19's are cast.

I couldn’t find anything even on the 20” wheels being forged. Usually it is stated when you select the wheel. It’s amazing how little salesmen know about the cars they sell...

From the PDF "F90 Complete Vehicle"
Hope that clarifies the answer to your question. And yes, the salesmen do NOT know it all, just like the rest of us. Mike

This makes sense as there is no cost difference to go with the 706M black wheels or the 789M comp specific wheels when configuring an M5 Comp.

I have not found a single reference on German sites that the 706m are forged. Forged wheels are typically referenced that way. The M5 comp wheels are specified as forged, M5 lists the 706m specified as light alloy.
Unlikely that the 706m are forged. The no-charge option on the comp makes sense as the wheels are part of the model. The black wheels are just an alternate without discount... Last edited by Wolfman64; 07-24-2018 at 07:45 PM.. |

They're specifically mentioning the competition wheels are forged to steer people towards the competition model. This is marketing 101.

Is the crank in the Engine Forged? I can't find proof anywhere! And of course, is the engine a closed deck engine? This thread makes me laugh!
The friggen wheels are FINE forged or not! Watch out for the pot holes and you'll be fine. I sent some cores of the leather on the dash to be tested. Looks like fake leather to me. Covered the core holes with electrical tape. Looks swell. Mike
