2020 M5C build or wait for LCI
Hey guys. I'm fairly new to the forum and need your opinion. I'm considering order a 2020 M5 comp as I can't find one in the color that I like built the way I like (don't care about the $5K on a $125K car). Should I go ahead and order or should I wait until after the LCI refresh? Also, the exhaust on the comp, is it M performance or sport? Not sure which one has the bangs, pops and burbles.

- At this point beyond looking at the leaked LCI -5 photos, no one knows exactly what the LCI M5 will look like. I need more photos to pass judgment. - Also, its unknown what changes BMW will make. BMW tends to update tech as it becomes available, as the 19/20s have a few tech updates already that are different. - Depending upon your dealership/allocations and BMW production, building a car you might not even be able to get one built for a few months. Let's say if..... you could get one built next month, by the time it gets here the 2021s should have surfaced and again pre COVID-19, production for the next model year tend to start in July. - M Comp- comes with Sport.. it pops and bangs and sounds great... the $$ option update sounds wet pants great. My thought... it's a buyers market, no reason you can't get 12-15% off a car during these times. Is 10K plus discount worth getting a car that is 90% of what you wanted? If your only getting 5K off you're doing something wrong. You might be able to find a better-optioned car minus the color for less than 125k. Plus if your leasing or buying low rates. So if you can live with a large discount and having 95% of what you want... get whatever you can find in inventory now. Dealerships will move on price, just have to search nationally, hold firm above the "we can't" dealership line, and do an easy road trip or ship it. If you want to build, ask the dealership the ETA on allocations, build date, shipping, and arrival dates. However you may not like the LCI, and depending on the market in July-Sept when it would arrive the market and discounts could be less. |

I am waiting to see what the LCI looks like, myself. It will only be a couple months before we ought to at least know what it looks like, and then If you don’t like it, you should definitely still be able to snag a ‘20.

I'd wait at this point... changes won't be major but also unlikely to be a downgrade and you may regret it if not. Given factories being closed you may not be able to get a new build pre-lci other than dealer inventory now

I'd negotiate hard ($10-15k) on current inventory or simply wait (although the wait could be much longer due to covid 19).

I was planning to pickup a LCI M5 when my M3 CS lease ended later this year. However, my M3 CS was totaled as of yesterday. So, I'm now driving my beater 2013 Infiniti G37. I could easily pickup a 2020 M5 now at a heavy discount, but to me the LCI M5 is worth the wait. I don't want to be driving the dated model when the LCI comes out. So, I'll be driving my beater till the LCI is released

lol im just messin with ya but the 2020 M5C is so damn good I can't say enough about it. The LCI to me is fairly minimal in changes and since I'm leasing it doesn't matter what willl come out next. |

All this to say BMW has a back log of 2020 cars (not just M5s) that will have to be built before the 2021 cars. Which will most likely delay the 2021 Lci refresh builds significantly. I could be wrong but it's just logical to me.

My M550 lease is up in September and I’ll be glad to get a base 2020 M5 at an awesome deal if there’s any left by then. Now, if I get another M550 it would definitely be the Lci.

The new LCI of the Mercedes E63s is arriving any day now, how about a look at that?
