The C&D time is real, but supposedly was done under absolutely perfect conditions, so it's a unicorn. I believe MT ran a 3.0 flat in the base car.
They have been doing it for years... I just picked the first thing I saw on Google cause Google is TRUTH.

I actually believe C&D used to begin their runs at 3 mph but then swapped to rollout.

I can easily believe that the base car is a 3 second car in the right hands and conditions. I'm blown away by how fast this car is for such a big heavy sedan, particularly in freeway passing situations. It's pulls from 70 well into triple digits so quickly and effortlessly, that it's kind of mind boggling. As many of the dyno tests have revealed, these cars have to be making well over 600hp at the crank.

I've seen prior references that the M5C's engine receives cross-bolted main bearing caps along with its own unique cooling and oiling passages. However, I believe the aforementioned is in relation to the differences between the N63 (found in the 850) and S63 (found in the F90) variants of the 4.4 liter twin turbo. That said, it'll be interesting to see what others find out.

Look into the sticky section at the beginning of the general thread under “tech manual”. Has a triple bolt set up on bearings with additional lateral bolts for bottom end into block. Essentially is an uber x bolt equivalent to reduce flex when you SOBs tweak the boost up to 28PSI - actually I’m just saying that since I’m stock, jealous, and can’t take the financial hit of a crank thrown into the asphalt! In all seriousness, I don’t see any difference in the components between that tech (2018 F90) and the 2019 M5C but I could be missing something. There was some advertising stuff a while back that did mention a new “cross bolt” main but it is likely the advertising chaps and lasses bending the truth abit as the M5C was “new” in relation to the upgraded versions of the old F10 Jahre etc. I found it misleading. I don’t see any part differences between the 2018 and 2019 base vs comp core components.

Regardless, Car and Driver still uses the same method across the board for all test. I don't know why those with Competition packages and M8s are expecting quicker 0-60 than the base M5. An extra 17-25hp isn't going to make that much of a difference. BMW cites .1 differences to justify the higher price. In real world situations, the 0-60 (or higher) is going to be the same until you get to an auto course where the stiffer/lighter setup can shine.

17 hp is within a margin of error on the dyno.

I bought a Comp.

Tuned
Lowered
Changed Wheels

So what did I pay extra for? The toe bushings and catback exhaust? Haha. Shoulda bought a base?

Check the tech document and you will find m5 has the cross bolt mentioned already

An Interesting thing to me is about tuning,if hardware are identical but why I see tuner like ac schnitzer offered both car tuned but end with different number? If hardware is same they shall stand the same result but often seen a base m5 with 700hp and while m5c with 720, maybe this is a marketing stuff to encourage m5c owner ? Hope someone in this industry could explain
