BTW, the fastest 0-60 time of 2.8 was from a non comp F90. I haven't seen a comp equal that time. Maybe someone has. For me, I was good with the non comp for the ride. I live in the city with some rough roads. Who cares really, its not like non comp buyer couldn't have bought a comp if they wanted to, its only a few thousand difference. Like the BW option.

This is the fastest stock 0-60 I've seen.

With just a piggyback, I'm in the 2.5s.

// EDIT: just noticed, that car's tuned so moot.

I wonder how many customers buy an M5 for its off-the-line acceleration; I can only speak for myself, but it's the on-the-road performance which seals the deal for me. That's the more usable performance I can enjoy daily; I can't really see myself lining up against a meathead in a Hellcat at my age LOL.....With all due respect to meatheads!

Personally, I buy it for the exhilaration of blunt-force trauma inducing acceleration, handling on road courses, dragstrip performance & bragging rights, luxury, its jack-of-all-trades nature, utility and tech (in no particular order). I will quite literally launch from every single light if the road conditions permit.

In addition, if 1/4 mile drag racing is something you enjoy and participate in (which it is for me), then launching well and quickly is a pivotal ingredient.

PS: I don't particularly enjoy racing Hellcats—Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches and (perhaps among strange company but...) Teslas are my personal favs because they don't expect to have their arses handed to them at the track.

Come to think of it, I might indulge in the guilty pleasure of dusting Yellow Cabs

That's the reason we didn't buy Hellcats, the M5 is the best of both worlds, brutal performance, with luxury accruements. Or a luxury car with brutal performance. Plus speaking personally, I need the rear doors and space for a car seat. If I didn't I'd be a another 911 Turbo.

Was accidentally at a BMW dealership. There was one M5C sitting on lot, did a test drive and made up my mind. Didn't even think about regular M5 or other domestic factors like what will the wife say Could be pre-midlife crisis or frustrated with Panamera issues or never settled after coming off a 911. I did all the research about base M5 and M5C after that as if it would make any difference :
I love the M5C for its practicality and performance. The suspension on M5C is not that different than on a 911.

Well said. This is exactly why I just got one yesterday! I could justify to the wife that it’s a very safe.. luxurious, comfortable, 4 door, all wheel drive sedan that can easily fit her and the baby!

Congrats!

Also, the lowered suspension is another thing to think about. Do you guys find that speed bumps are crazy high now that everyone drives an SUV? Should BMW have a front lift option, especially with that low oil cooler.

Fortunately, didn't scrape the front at any of the speed breakers yet! But my instincts slow me down and drive at an angle when I sense something steep.

Having recently driven a fellow members M5C I would swap with my non-comp in an instant. Didn't notice the small difference in power but the suspension was fine even on harsh roads and it just felt more connected.

I drove a regular one and it was too soft for me.. the M Performance exhaust on the competition also sealed the deal. Both great cars though.

Took delivery of my M5 Comp few weeks ago. I was concerned that the ride would be too rigid but once I tried comfort suspension setting, my mind was put at ease. Perfect for everday driving in my opinion.

I don't think I'm a fan of the rear bumper being black on the Competition....it literally does look just like the normal G30 M-Sport (at least on white cars).

I've got a regular M5 on order to be built in January. And the black elements don't appeal to me as well.

Recently saw a quote in the press from one of the Corvette C8 engineers who said they had to totally redesign the car and go with the mid-engine because they didn't have anything for a certain German 4-door sedan.

Regular M5 is the ultimate sleeper. Fastest, most luxurious 5 seater currently available. 😁✅

Yeah, I just don't love the Competition styling differences with the exception of the black grilles and side vents. Black mirrors are just too ricer-ish IMHO. The normal mirrors already are half-black on the non-Competition.

Looks more like the normal 5 series with the painted rear valance, too. Black exhaust tips look smaller than the chrome ones due to the color. The M8 Comp black tips look great but they are also a bit larger than the M5 ones so the black color doesn't hurt the size as much.

I would take the Sport exhaust, though, and the wheels have grown on me...that alone probably makes it worth it.

So, I've had my M5C for about 3 months now. No regrets at all about ride versus base M5. I would say that if you drive over significant road irregularities, e.g., cobblestone street, you would know the suspension is tuned for handling versus ride comfort. That said, if I wanted a car that drives like an Olds Delta 88 I wouldn't be in the market for an M car. Perhaps the base model is a fraction more forgiving, but it's probably the same suspension travel and thus going to suffer the same on really bad roads. I think if you're buying an M5 to combine the best of performance and ride comfort you can't go wrong with the Competition.

Just curious, in my M5C I notice no difference between the Comfort vs Sport Plus settings on the suspension. Do you notice an immediate change in the suspension?
