Yea, could've pushed for more, but I'm happy with $17.5k off total. My sales guy has always taken care of me and I didn't want to squeeze out more of his margins. The 2019's people got upwards of 20% off, but I think still a bit too early for that on 2020's; maybe when LCI drops 20% off will be standard.

I own an X3 MC and I couldn’t be happier with it (especially after a simple Stage 1 tune elevated the bhp to 660). S58 is just a wonderful engine to mod. Nonetheless, I also decided to add a performance sedan to my garage. I pre-ordered an RS7 and was patiently waiting for it to arrive. And then COVID happened and the delivery date got pushed back indefinitely. Yesterday, I received a call from my BMW dealer offering me a brand new M5 comp for 105k (a customer pulled back his order). Decisions, decisions...

First, the RS7 will not better or faster than the M5 Comp. period. Joe Achilles has already tested the RS7 and said the M5 is still the standard. Audi falls short yet again and it baffles me. In regards to the price, that's the exact deal I got, which is basically 13% off a 2020. Take it and forget about the RS7 (or get it and get destroyed by F90s all day).

I've been wondering this for some time now, but never posted the question... Why did BMW not carry over the wider rear fender flare of the previous F10 M5 and instead opt for a narrower rear flare? The front flare is very wide but the rear doesn't match like it did on the F10.

See my previous F10 below for reference:

I think that was just the standard F10 rear quarter. I don't believe the M5 received wider rear fenders like the M3 did. However, the rear of the F10 does look a bit wider than the F90 for sure.. I think is has something to do with the strong shoulder line of the F10.

F90 is 1.8 inches wider than F10. (75" vs 73.2")

Also according to dimensions,
F90 is actually wider than G30.
Width: 190.3 cm or 74.92 inches vs 186.8 cm or 73.54 inches

That's overall dimensions. I'm speaking strictly in regards to the rear fender flares. It's all good. BMW should take some notes from Audi in regards to fender flares.

I just wanted to mention this now that I'm in the M5. The ZF 8-Speed is definitely the best auto transmission to date in the automotive world. However, after having the R8 with the dual-clutch, I can tell you that there is noticeable shift-lag with the ZF (probably no big surprise to you). The dual-clutch in the R8 is lightning fast and feels like a proper F-1 transmission. There's no replacing a proper dual-clutch and BMWs decision to remove the option of it in several of the M-cars will go down as one of the worse decisions ever. I will definitely be going back to a dual-clutch vehicle after my lease is up.

I agree 100%. After two Porsche’s and an RS Audi, I miss the PDK a ton. I will add the ZF is damn fast if you’re 3/4 to full throttle. I’m really impressed with the m suspension.

I agree...PDK (let alone PDK in the GT cars) is worlds better than the ZF auto, no matter how good the ZF is. That said, the ZF in my M5C is better than I thought but still leaves a lot to be desired - particularly the cheap plastic paddles. People wonder why Porsches cost more, but once you’ve owned many of each brand, the quality level and attention to detail on Porsche becomes overwhelmingly obvious.

Yep. I haven't owned a P-car yet (considering the next gen 992 GT3 in a few years) but, after having the R8, I know I'm in a for a real treat with the PDK in a GT car. I hear once you convert to Porsche it's virtually impossible to go back.

The R8 is fantastic! I do agree, it makes it tough to drive anything else after getting into Porsche.

Not following the rationale on losing money on the r8, as M5 values tank. I actually have a 19 comp and previously had a r8 plus as a secondary car which I traded for a GT3RS.

I had a 17 r8 plus for about 11 months put on 3k miles and traded it for a loss of 10k and got a good deal on the RS... mind you I picked up the R8 after it was about 2 years old. My rationale for getting into the RS was based primary on fun factor but also preservation of value.

I think the M5 is way more practical as a primary car, I leased my M5 for tax purposes and was ok with its massive depreciation secondary to that. As much as I love the M5 and as physics defying of a car as it is its not in the same league as the r8/exotic car in terms of driving enjoyment/feel.

I actually like that color interior. Congrats man.

Oh, trust me, it was not my intention to lose money on the R8. The market conditions is why I lost that money, as under normal conditions I would've sold privately for my asking price. I'm leasing the M5 as well for tax purposes. I miss the R8 for sure, but I'll be back in another exotic/higher end supercar in due time. My short list for when that time comes is a next gen 992 GT3, Huracan (EVO or Perf), or the face lifted R8 Plus. We'll see...

How do you compare the daily driver comfort of the R8 vs the GT3RS ?

I've never owned a GT car, but I've talked with guys that have owned both and the R8 is by far the most comfortable for daily driving between the two.
