LCI timing for F90

Do we know when the mid cycle refresh will hit? Probably later 2020 for MY 2021? (18 months or so from now)

Supposedly July 2020... Nobody really seems to know much except July 2020, the g30 = new engine (extremely and I mean not happening that f90 gets new engine here as well) but the g30 does get the new digital gauge cluster... Body wise / lights etc? No news thus far - that I know of...

In 2020, The M550 will get a HP bump to 530 or so. So I would think the M5 would get a similar bump, maybe 625-650 , comp 700? We will see

They said the M5 is not getting an engine change or HP bump. Just the M550 is getting the same V8 as the M850.

This... The only time they tweak the engines for M's is if there's a Comp, CS, CSL, jahre, lunar moon in the year of the iguana etc... Very par for the course for non-M specific models though...

M owners would have a mutiny if such things happened, lol...

Agreed...this supports everything I've read as well.

New 7 series has the updated V8, and the 2020 (2021?) X5 50i will also receive the upgrade....

I could be wrong, but Bimmerfest, Bimmerpost, and BMW Blog have not mentioned anything in regards to a hp bump for the LCI M5...only the cosmetic enhancements the standard models will receive (headlights, tail lights, bumpers, etc.)

Out of curiosity, does anyone know why we went from F10 to F90 instead of to the G-series like the regular 5?

LCI G30 will not come at same time as F90.

BMW wanted to delineate between true ///M and "M-lite." That is why a few F-# have been reserved.

LCI price increases are normally quite small and justified with increased standard equipment... so unless you were ordering a bare bones car its normally not even really noticeable.

Given the announcement for the M8 grand coupe getting basically the entire library of individual colors at discounted rate I wonder if we could see something similar for M5 LCI.

I think significant delays are to be expected, given the factories pretty much shut down.

yeah production was supposed to start after the july break. BUT with current production shut downs i wonder if they have to extend MY2020 production to use all the parts/equipment thats already in the supply chain. If so you could see them not switch over or maybe build through the break and re-tool in August?

Who knows. Would be fascinating to hear how they are planning and reacting right now. going to be tough times on the OEMs.

Yeah, I think there is a decent chance this throws a big kink into the LCI plans....maybe it comes out later than normal or maybe they make smaller changes than originally planned. Who knows at this point....
