Hello to all.
I’m new to this forum. I got my M5 last week and I must say it’s an amazing machine. It’s alpine white with aragon brown interior and the 706 bicolor style wheels. I have been reading a lot about power being limited during break in period and I honestly used to think it was BS. Today I did some runs and the hp indicator in the idrive was limited to 480 hp every time. I got it close to 6600 rpm and it never passed the 480 hp mark. I even did a rolling race with a friend of mine that owns a 911 carrera 4S and it was really close which is weird since I have 180 hp more than him, I know the M5 weighs about 350 kgs more but it should still pull ahead. I used to do rolling races with him on an M4 I owned before the M5 and they were really close. Has anyone noticed the hp indicator going all the way to 600 after the break in period? Thanks |

Many different schools on breaking in a car .... some of my most reliable cars (including several M5's) have been broken in hard.

HAHAHA. I usually redline my cars pulling out of the dealership. Did the same on Autobahn during Euro delivery.

I can confirm this.. I’m barely getting over 500 HP and 480TQ pre break in service.. I tried a pull once just to feel the power, it definitely feels like it’s holding back as the rpms rise..I’m hoping it’s the break in tune and nothing is wrong with a turbo or boost leak or some other issue |
