Backed into... not even 3 weeks old

SUV backed into brand new 2020 M5 Comp at my son's karate class today
Not even 3 weeks old. At least he was nice enough to leave a note. First world problems.. Oh well. Still hurts

Sorry that happened. Its painful to look at it but always can be fixed. We love these cars so much its really upsetting . happened to my F90 Comp. i was parallel parked and the car in front backed up into me and ruined my car as well. off to the body shop i was. unfortunately no note was left for me.

Uh, that is sucks.

Doesn't seem to get to the hood.
Hopefully just cosmetic damage.

Yeah, of course I was pissed. However, he was nice enough to leave a note. It would have been more painful to find it in the garage at home tonight or tomorrow without knowing anything happened. Having been hit before with serious damage to a previous car while parked with no note or contact info left behind, I tried to keep it in perspective

That's why I installed a front and back dashcam. I live in NYC literally in the middle of the city so I needed it.

It's always on/activated by motion? Not a bad idea.

Yes it's a Blackvue DR900s and it has a parking mode. Once you start your car it lets you know if there was an impact.

That's pretty cool. Hopefully you haven't had need for it. NYC is tough on vehicles. Was installation complicated to hide the wires, particularly in the rear?

I had a shop do it for me. I didn't want to screw anything up with the battery and and walk to a drained battery.

The first one always hurts.

I ripped my lower front bumper off on one side within the first month.

Was rushed and distracted and turned early backing out of the garage.

You are lucky that he left a note. I always try to park far away from everyone when I have to park in a public space. It does not always work, but it helps.

I thought about parking in the empty adjacent parking lot, but my wife said they were ticketing and towing people there. So I parked as carefully as I could to make sure there was a good amount of space between the cars adjacent to me... Well the person parked in the isle across from me backed into me.... Can't win sometimes

That's painful. I have backed into a closed garage door in the past... Different car. But forgot to open it... Rushing

This sounds like a 12-step group... My name is Gassy... and it's been 6 months since my last accident. I was in a mountain resort, looking at the nav map to find a certain street... going 5 mph and ran into the back of one of those extended golf carts with a metal luggage rack. Only took out the hood, but it's like the heart of the car, the biggest piece of painted metal. About 4 grand for a new hood and paint job. Can't tell it happened, but I know. OK, time for coffee and donuts!

Getting rear bumper replaced next week. No note. Car two weeks old at the time. Now about a month into ownership. I definitely feel your pain.

You would think they would be more inclined to leace a note at church, right?

Same thing happened to me! I was at a client site and it was the first time taking the car further than 10 miles. I parked all the way in the back corner and somehow still got hit.

Slow Walker is my boy and he texted me the night it happened. When I saw the text, I could not believe it happened and I immediately called him. He didn't answer because he said he was on the phone with the insurance company. Some people just can't drive, even with all the latest tech, rear cameras, etc (assuming the guy had rear cameras). We had just talked a couple days prior about meeting up with our cars and going for a drive. I told him that at least it's a lease and not financed, but knowing your brand new baby is no longer perfect really hurts.

Hopefully, you'll get the car back by early March.

I was in clinic and picked a place that was likely safe. Oh well.
