The only thing bootmod3 and protuning freaks care about are the ricey 235 / 335 / 340i and m2 and how many exhaust bangs & pop pops they can make for high schoolers. Their Instagram is filled with terrible sounding m2s, m3s and 235is going through tunnels and towns and downshifting for pop pops. It’s pretty lame.

This is coming from a 28 year old...

Right. What I’m saying is the ceo 10k / day m5 owner is not their target market.

Their target market is high schoolers that love the raspy, terrible sounding 6 cylinder cars that are obnoxious. Go look at their Instagram it’s 98% of their posts— revving through towns and tunnels.

Therefore they don’t have time to develop for the m5. If it was their bread and butter it would have been done months ago.

If you think the majority of M5 owners are making 10k per day, you are in for a big surprise

Joking aside, i get what you are saying and you have a point. I do not think its about the nature of the owners but about the quantity of cars. they want to make sure they cover the 1/2/3/4/5 series before going to the M5 niche market thats all.

You can adjust burble aggressiveness and duration using the BM3 interface

I think you misunderstood him. He drives an F90 and BM3 isn't available. He was saying that BM3 only cares about making pops and bangs for the cheaper car market as there are more buyers for their product. So when you said there is a way to turn them down he was thinking you meant without having an "unavailable for F90" BM3

Haha yeah F90 driver.

I havent jumped into the tuning on the m5 so BM3 was unfamiliar to me. I'm used to plugging in a box (ala JB4).

Pardon my ignorance, but what is so special about Bootmod3 compared with other flash tunes? There's already other somewhat reputable tunes on the market.

I have never used it. But, from what I have read and heard BM3 allows you to have multiple tunes in one GUI..Graphical user interface. So maybe they offer a couple of tunes or maybe users upload their tunes etc. I'm guessing you would find some popular brand tunes on there as well. Aside from that I believe it's more configurable than a regular tune and I (think) they claim it's undetectable.

I dont think anyone is claiming a flash is undetectable. Only the JB4 is possibly undetectable.

I have BM3 on my M3 but i am fully aware BMW will be able to tell it has been flashed.

Yea, I agree. I have just heard people saying that BM3 is not. Would be nice but I doubt it. Either way, it's not out for the F90 so I guess it doesn't matter.

Anything that modifies factory parameters is recorded so the fact that a piggy (JB4) is not physically detectable (if removed) does not mean that BMW can't detect recorded data outside factory parameters (boost levels, AFR etc). Tune is obviously detectable.

+1

Any tune whether flash or piggyback CAN be detected if they want to find out. Any changes someone makes to their vehicle whether coding or hardware carries a risk

BM3 is in Current Closed-Beta for F90 M5 so be patient guys it will be worth it.

Correct statement.

The only difference are how easily detectable are they.

- Flash Tune - Based on my friend at BMW dealer service department. Their service tool computer will detect it once it plugged in to OBD2 port.
- PiggyBack - Require more deep scanning and read every line of a data log for abnormalities. Only corporate tech can do this. The more sensors it is being tricked, the easier to be detected since more data that are not normal.

I miss the old days of modding where no one cares about warranty when they decided to mod their car.

Now every single mod question and argument would be, "would it void my warranty?".
Even as simple as changing LED bulb or coding.
