ASD / Exhaust baffle button observations

Can you please take a pic of the exact plug you pulled? I always find ways to do things wrong...

Pic of the ASD fake Amp and the connector to unplug. It is a personal preference, but I REALLY like it now.

You have to get to this point for easy access. The connection is easy to unplug. Just push the button down and it slides off.

1. Lift up the false floor bottom and set it aside.

2. Remove the 4 push pin connectors (use a tiny screwdriver to pull up the center lock, then pull them out) from the plastic trim piece at the trunk latch. Then just pull up on the piece until it releases and set it aside.

3. Remove the 2 push pins in the side panel like was done to the plastic trim.

4. On the bottom left, about 3/4 deep into the trunk you will find and o ring chrome tie down. Remove the thumb size plastic cover with a small screw driver to expose the torx t40 screw. Remove the screw and the o ring.

5. Carefully start pulling the left side panel until you get the room shown in the above pic. Then reach in and unplug the tiny amp.

6..Reverse 4 to 1 and done !

Real Exhaust!!!!

Update after driving a couple of days without ASD. TO ME, Mine actually sounds “better” with the ASD disabled. To me, the speaker sound was competing with the true exhaust sound and did not sound “right”. Engine mode has to be in Sport plus AND the console sound button on to get the baffles to open. Baffles closed sounds aweful. I parked/tested it beside my X5M with Akrapovic. Akra is about 25% louder, but stock M5 is not horrible. After about 3000 miles the stock mufflers will get louder as the exhaust water vapor will coat the fiberglass matting inside the muffler

The fuse box is on the right side wall inside the trunk. I could not figure out which fuse controlled ASD on the small piece of white paper in the fuse box. So I just removed the trunk felt from the left side wall and unplugged the ASD amp. Problem sorted. LOL

Picking up my M5 Comp on Monday. In the last picture where is the "tiny amp"? I see it in the penultimate picture but don't see where that is in the last picture. Thanks.

Onfire, how did you get the trunk floor liner up, there is no hook or handle. Did you just jam a crowbar in or something ?

Gently lift with a wide blade screwdriver at the back edge just enough to get your fingers under it.

Unplugged mine. Couldn't find my torx screwdriver head but was able to shiny the inner lining away enough that I could put my arm through the gap and look through the hole where the trunk guides go and unplug it easily. I find ASD really annoying. It is much quieter in the cabin with the plug pulled and plenty loud if you open the valves (and ridiculously loud if you open the windows).

So this fuse pull only eliminates the fake sound?
Any easy pull / fix to keep baffles always open?
I have about 2k on clock now and do notice the exhaust sounding better. Was high revving in 2nd today and when I let off, had couple nice crackles. Still wish exhaust sound was more aggressive, doesn't fully match the M5's capabilities...
