Are you able to roll taxes into the lease? Isn't that a way not to have to pay full boat on sales tax and avoid that huge down payment?

Times 100......
I feel very sorry for those who have to pay taxes up front or taxes on the entire purchase price of the car even if they are just leasing....it's a SIZEABLE increase in monthly payments. I would not lease if it were like that here....

I feel bad for everyone who has to pay sales tax on cars. In SC, there is effectively no sales tax on cars. It's a flat $300 per car, regardless of price. You could buy a Honda Civic or a Bugatti, tax is always $300.
NH has no sales tax at all. Awesome. 😉 |

But the dealer said that a few days earlier, Floyd Mayweather had been there and purchased a $2M Bugatti. He got it registered in NH, and saved more than $120,000 in sales tax. |

I am looking at some lease numbers now.
2020 M5 base $112040 sticker. dealer is willing to do 10% off. and quoted me $1450 /month (36 X 10k) zero down just first month. no loyalty (because i dont own a bmw) or any incentives. (at least in Maryland if anyone can confirm). does this sounds OK? whats the current residual and MF in Maryland for 2020? |

Wrt/ your quote--does that include the 6% usage tax I understand is imposed in Maryland? If not, you'll be out-of-pocket $1537 per month. My general sense is that this is mediocre for a car with that MSRP. Have you considered assuming a lease? |

found a decent one in MA, giving them a call tomorrow. that quote does include 6% tax (MD is tax on the whole MSRP not usage tax...) very unfortunate.. |

All of my quotes were from $1680 per month to $1800 per month. MSRP $123k. 2020 to be ordered. |

I might be missing something here but your car's MSRP is $11,000 more yet your best deal was only $200 / month more--so the OP's deal doesn't seem like a good deal to me relative to what I've been seeing here for a while (there's a tax variable here that might be skewing things, though). Were you perhaps referring to a '19 for that deal?

Do you have the quote pre-tax? If your monthly payment pre-tax is actually $1263.27 for a 2020, that seems better to me. I'm basing that on the fact that your tax situation is a NIGHTMARE! PS: lease assumption isn't of interest? |

from $112040, 10% off, and 6% is 6050.16, and divide that to 36, is $168.06 in TAX a month. $1431.33 is what I am getting, which is yes, couple $$ less than what this dealer quoted.. if you were going based off of $115,415 on 2019 F90 M5, what is the pre-tax monthly you come up with? (under a scenario where I can get 15% off MSRP AND $2500 lease incentive)... |

That said, I'd be looking for some more wiggle room in there discount-wise. Last edited by limeypride; 02-03-2020 at 12:46 AM.. |
