If you don't want it too loud you shouldn't do downpipes. I've heard they are extremely loud. Set car alarms off on a cold start loud. Just a JB4 or tune from a reputable company (not Noelle) should be enough. Everything else seems to help very little. After a tune, downpipes are probably the next best thing, but unless you're going for Dragy times, there's no point. Some intakes help with the sound, but don't add much if anything in terms of power.

JB4 probably takes a good 30~60 min to install / uninstall.

Racechip GTS should take 5~10 min to install / uninstall.

Road race track or drag strip?

Do secondary Downpipe’s. Did this to my m8 which is pretty much identical engine and exhaust setup as the m5. Perfect amount of increase of sound. Not obnoxious and still sounds stock but louder

With the JB4 you can leave it installed and just change the map from your phone. Map 0 is stock. You may want to take it off if you go to the dealership though.

You should be able to get where you want to be with the JB4 and good gas. There have been a few people recently that aren't satisfied with their results. I was able to hit a 10.34 on my first run and a 10.27 on my second, with one of the conservative maps (map 2). That's from a non comp with Pirelli tires on the street. I had a BMS intake also, but they just add sound. The record for a JB4 with intake, exhaust and DP is 10.05. You should be able to hit a 10.5 or better depending on your DA.

It's a good way to go. Even if you get another tune in the future you can use the JB4 for data logging or as a meth controller if you go that route someday.

Any feelings of Jb4 vs. RaceChip in terms of performance with piggy only and 91 octane?

RaceChip GTS Black 5-10 minutes install and uninstall.
You can turn off from the App or remove the module and use the included dummy plug / bypass plug.

And, it comes with 2x free reprogramming within 3 years of ownership and engine warranty.

I personally would skip JB4 and go directly to flash tune like DME/BM3.

Oh, and secondary downpipe will help the sound and performance.

Yes. If you are the first owner of the car and the RaceChip.

I have the JB4, nothing else. I get 92 octane pump gas here in WA so I add 6oz of BOOSTane Pro at each fill up. I run either map 2 or map 6—the latter if I'm tinkering with settings. I consistently hit 60mph in 2.6x seconds with 2.59 being my best. I run the 1/4 mile in 10.4s consistently with 10.33s being my best—these runs are on farm roads, not prep'd drag strip surfaces.

Without BOOSTane Pro and using map 1, I've run 10.5s, 10.6s and 10.7s. I don't have consistent repeatable data on map 1 because I don't use it enough.
