Emails on iDrive 7

A school boy question here, on my old F32 4 series I could dsiplay my SMS messages and emails in the messages menu. On the iDrive 7 it only shows SMS messages and and I can't work out how to get emails to appear. I don't want to use Android auto, how do I do it?

I never got it to work with my Iphone.

I also find it stupid that the system will only read out SMS messages with the vehicle parked. What is the point of that? Idrive 7 is a step back in the features most important to me.

Unfortunately Carly hasn't developed their software yet to code the F90 LCI.
