What Other Cars Did You Consider
I'm curious to know what other cars people considered before purchasing the M5 and your thoughts about them. I've been mainly deciding between the E63s, Audi RS5 Sportback, or waiting for the new M3.

Considered the E63s but it was not for me looks-wise / interior. This is my 5th M5 so no doubt I’m biased ......

Currently have M5 in the hunt:
Porsche 992 Vs Benz G550 Vs BMW M5 I know that's illogical and makes no sense... oddly enough those 3 cars all work for my daily driver and they are the 3 that get me excited right now. 3 different flavors, all good DDs... |

After 3 M5s in a row (2008, 2013, 2015) i picked up a lightly used 2018 E63. It is being delivered now. I will buy a F90 M5 Competition next but wanted to try something different. Hoping I don’t regret it since I never owned a Merc

What got me started this time around (besides it's Spring, I seem to always buy my cars in Spring) was looking at a AMG GTR. While I was test driving one I decided to test drive a E63S as well. I came so close to getting a magno grey but decided to wait until I test drove a M5. I'm not a white car fan but that is a nice looking car. Grats. Let us know how you are liking the MB as you get some seat time. I'd be curious to know. Thanks |

[QUOTE=Quickburn7;24593091] I read some threads with you and VIC discussing the E63S. I am glad I went with the M5 over the E63S, but always love to hear other peoples opinions and experiences regarding these cars.

I looked at the Panemara GTS but could not get myself to cheat on my favorite brand!

Mostly E63 S, given how similar they are in terms of absolutely everything. Looked at a 911 Turbo 991.2 too, but it wasn't worth the massive price premium for me over the M5.
Didn't but the E63 S because it is more of a hotrod than the M5, it rides too stiffly and the M5 has a nice extra bit of refinement which I preferred. Probably will own an E63 S some day though. |

I already have other cars outside of the sedan segment that make me smile so in reality I didnt consider any other car (I had an E63S and sold it).
I also had 2 RS7's and while the driving experience didnt reach the F90 limits, it was a car I had to try out. Right now, Im coming up on month 8 with the F90 and I have not even thought about replacing it. This for me, is not normal LOL so it says alot about the deliverables that the F90 brings as a full package of performance, size, and luxury.

I *might* switch this out for an M8 GC whenever that comes out but I consider that a diagonal (closer to sideways) step since I'd expect its driving dynamics to rival/beat the M5... win win! This is truly one of the most exceptional all-rounders and daily-drivers out there. |

S8 plus and Panamera. The S8 was tempting but as others have said the F90 is so good at so many things. I came from a 15 M4 and wanted to carry forward as much of that experience as possible while increasing comfort and utility.
I've done the two car thing for a long time and it was time to have a single car that could do it all with few compromises. |

I never considered anything else, but if I was to, it would be the E63S. However, I hear it rides terrible and I'm not fan on MB anymore. Owned many in the past and even a '17 GLS that I just dumped. Too many electrical and mechanical issues, especially brakes and rotors. This was consistent through 3 GLS models, a new '10 E550 AMG sport and '12 CLS AMG sport. Thanks God BMW made the X7 was finally able to get out of the GLS line.

E63S. I think it is an awesome car but to me it just does not look as good as the M5 especially the interior is meh.
If the new 911 would be out for some time this would have been very close. I so miss my 992 and I just had the basic model not even the S. But I have always been a BMW guy and so I am super excited about this M5C and doing another ED. |
