The problem with these threads is that the topic of "Ride Quality" is subjective at best. Throw in the "quality of roads" piece and the answer's even murkier.
The best option (if available) is to drive both and see how it feels. The M5C is really more of a drivers car for the enthusiast that appreciates all of the benefits of a tuned suspension (less dampened steering feel, better feedback, less body roll, lowered COG etc.) The flip side is that you'll feel much more and that is not attractive to everyone. If you're on the fence, and can't drive both, go with the Base as you can always buy an aftermarket suspension. I'm very happy w/ my MC5 and have zero complaints about ride quality. So much so that the stock suspension was not enough ... KW HAS going on the car as I type LOL.

My F10 Comp was way more comfortable!! But I'd take this one over it any time! Because it's more pure ///M and true I find it harsh but I believe that's why it's a better ///M car!!

This topic has been of great interest to me, as I drive a variety of roads including in SF which has constant construction, metal plates, etc. generally crappy road conditions. I had planned to order a M5 non-Comp, as I didn't need the extra power or to spend the money (though I was kind of interested in the sport exhaust)... but when I found out the order banks are basically dry of non-Comps I had to rethink. I took a Comp pkg for a test drive yesterday... For the purposes of this experiment I drove it in Comfort mode as that's how I roll.
My last daily was a S6 which had sport tuned air suspension, and in comfort mode it was absolutely perfect - soaked up most of the bumps while cornering very well. There is definitely a little more "texture" in the M5C's ride than my old S6 in comfort mode, but it did not come with any harshness. In other words, I could feel the seams in the road but they didn't bother. This is a bit different from my 911 which would get tiring after an hour or so. Or my colleague's W212 E63S which allows more harshness into the cabin. Nonetheless, I can see how it might bother some people. Car is absolutely insane in most other dimensions. Only downside really is the interior which is a bit of a drag (boring, cheap looking) compared to the W213 E63S which looks and feels special. |

Today my oldest daughter as we approach the M5 F90 walking from the back towards the cars, she goes "your know what daddy, I thought I like the rear of this car but now I think I was wrong, it looks weird and I don't like it anymore" unbeknownst to her, that's how I always felt about the after thought new ///M5 rear which again I forgive like any other fault with it, because it's back to being pure ///M and sheer fun to drive! With the right exhaust almost as fun as R8 V10 plus which was an absolute blast to drive!!

I have an M5 f90, I have just updated to competition with all the original parts (there are 16 pieces for about € 5000 + manpower) do not feel great differences of comfort, but the car does not bounce again, the replacement of the shock absorbers with the their competition control unit has improved the answer for me now more comfortable! We are at the top!

I would equate the Mercedes interior to the sales technique used at a Best Buy to sell TV's. Set the contrast, sharpness, and saturation to the max in order to dazzle the shopper. My taste runs more toward the use of quality materials, but showing restraint in comparison to the Mercedes theme of glitz is good and more glitz is better. You can even illuminate that enormous star on the grill for maximum effect!

On a more serious note, My brother visiting from Sydney AU, said while he loves everything about the car but it ride very very rough for a luxury car! And it's not the M5C m, if that drives my point home! No pun intended! Guys! It rude rough and I'll take that over riding better but like a boat around corners, and forgot to mention he never said that about any of my ///M cars before

Interesting. I have a non comp and maybe the roads here in south Florida are better than most but I would classify the ride in "comfort" as supple. Soft but compliant. Sport is just a tad firmer, mildly perceptible. Sport+ is where is Can start to feel a little more firmness and bumpiness. But nothing disturbing. I generally have been keeping in comfort and sometimes changing steering to sport. Mostly short quick trips to local gym or supermarket or whatever. Anything longer and I go sport+ steering, sport suspension and sport tranny.

The roads here in CO are so-so, not new/glass smooth, but not as bad as pothole ridden MA. I think my M5 CP is quite comfortable in "Comfort" and I use it in Sport suspension mode as my daily driver without any issues in ride quality and ZERO complains from my passengers.

400 mile round trip at the weekend in the M5C, South Coast of England to Birmingham and back, to include the awful A21 and concrete sections of the M25 - both passengers commented on how compliant they thought the ride was. Perhaps this was skewed by their expectations on an M car having a hard ride. I am not sure. All I know is that I found it very comfortable, even more so than my wife's X1 M-Sport.....They did say that the ride in the back feels slightly harsher than the front, I am putting this down to the amazing front seat comfort though.

I think my M5C rides better in Sport than Comfort on bumpy surfaces because the rebound damping is better controlled. The high recommended tyres pressures don’t do the comfort any favours over small imperfections but overall the tight body control justifies the terse ride.

My $0.02...the ride in my 5CP is much much better than the ride in my old M4. I live in the Dallas area where our roads are 95% concrete.

In Boston our roads are the worst in the country! The m5 comp was so bad I returned it and got the regular m5 with the stock 19” wheels.. much better for the $hit roads we have here

Honestly the power feels about the same, if I was blind folded I wouldn’t be able to tell which car I was in on a perfectly paved road.. however that would immediately change as soon as the roads got uneven and had cracks or potholes.. the comp. would crash over cracks and manhole covers so bad that it felt like the whole dash was gonna fall off..it also caused some harsh vibrations and rattles in the cabin.. the regular m5 on the other hand handles the same road much much much better.. it absorbs the rough patch rather than crash over it..the regular m5 is definitely geared towards a smoother ride than the comp no doubt in my mind and it’s very noticeable to me.
