M5 vs M5 CP ride comfort
Hello,
I need help from all of you M lovers. I am just about to order M5..but I have one big issue. My dealer offered me M5 CP. What i need to know how stiffer and harder is drive in M5 CP comparing to stock M5? I found on internet and youtube that ride in comfort mode is almost the same on both cars, but it changes in sport and sport +. I am very satisfy with ride comfort in stock M5 in all modes, now im bit affraid for my passingers if I choose to go with M5 CP. Please help me and sorry if its a repost. Deda |

I have comp and am happy with ride quality. My wife hasn't complained yet either! It is definitely noticeable between the two models but I don't find the m5c uncomfortable at all in comfort mode. I guess it also depends on what road conditions are like where you live.

My suggestion is to test drive them both and see how "you" feel as ride comfort is subjective and will vary from one person to another.
With that said, and having driven both, I believe the M5C is about 10% stiffer in Comfort Mode and gets progressively stiffer as you move through Sport and Sport + modes. It's not just that the springs are stiffer but it's also the engine mounts, sway bars, toe links and negative front camber that provide significantly less of a muted feeling w/ more driver feedback. I personally love the tuned suspension on the M5C and it was the primary reason I went this route; I live in Miami where the roads are very good so take that into consideration when making your decision. I will say that the slightly lower stance looks great and the M-Sport Exhaust is surprisingly good.

Thank you all.
Problem is that dealer does not have the car at dealership. Thats the problem,i can not drive it,befere i pay for it. Car is just produced and offered me with price of stock M5. But i dont want to be greedy and buy the car with special price, but then to cry over comfort. Roads are in very good condition in my country, highways even better.. Still dont know what to do. |

Get the Comp. Don't look back. This is a no brainer. My roads are not great and I have a comp. It's not a big deal. |

I drove a stock 18 M5 for 1,800 miles and then switched to a 19 M5 comp that I now have 1,200 miles on. I couldn’t be happier. In my opinion the ride quality difference is small. If you’re unhappy in a comp, you probably wouldn’t have been very happy in a base.
Go for the comp!! |

If you want a smoother ride go for the regular M5, I have the standard 19” wheels and the ride is good. I’ve driven a regular M5 on the upgraded 20” and could feel a difference in harshness just going up 1” on the rims.. the comp adds the 20” wheels and the harder springs.. no thank you! If I wanted a car that rides like that there are other cars in that category.. that’s the reason I didn’t buy an AMG E63s, Nissan GTR etc .

Get the Comp! It handles better, sounds better, etc... if the ride bothers you run it in comfort. I run mine in Sport all the time and the roads here aren't great (although not as bad as Boston was).

....and I wish the M5C was more stiff and less soft. Can't imagine someone thinking it's too stiff a ride and the M5 must be soft serve vanilla ... wishing the M4 was AWD.....

Well in that case let me help to sway to to the regular M5 side.
I've been and drove through everyplace in former Yugoslavia. You will feel every bump on the side roads, since the car has very wide tires, and the comp has even stiffer springs, motor mounts, bushings, etc. I prefer to drive my car in comfort on side streets here in Canada - and even then its bumpy on side roads. when I hit highways I play with the suspensions settings based on road conditions, and my speeding ticket preference. The M5 comp is essentially a fat pig track car and glass highways. Just to going to the corner store can feel a bit harsh, but also I'm in my 40's , in my 20's I would not care. jebi ga. |

If he drives long distance regular M5 is to go. I personally prefer CP but I was not patient to wait. Lol

Deda, another point worth noting, as this platform ages a bit, all these comp parts can be swapped in if wanted. And later down the road I'm sure there will be even more bushings, tie rods, etc. from aftermarket that will be more aggressive, like Vorshlag, etc.
