Why does the title of this thread say it's wired to the rear view mirror then?

Mirror tap

Anyone know which wires we can tap into using a Mirror Tap cord from BlendMount? I would prefer to use the taps and not the hardwire.

Was at the dealership today and have an answer. About to post a how-to thread for the process. Tap the red with black stripe (pin 3) for the power and the brown (pin 10) for the ground.

Gassy - I was at the dealership today and the technician helped me figure it out. See my new blendmount wire tap thread.

I tried to put in the blend mount mirror tap today; actually was successful at first. Taking off mirror housing was pretty easy, taps went in well. tested before i put everything back together and worked perfectly. After putting back the housing cover turned on car and detector wasn't powering on. Took off cover again to find that one of the pin had come unseated - assume during putting on housing cover? any rate, pin broke as I took it out, thankfully it didn't break inside the wire harness. Figured I'll have to order a new tap so put everything back together.

I am installing a dash cam this weekend. There are videos on how to remove a-Piller cover ( one screw under 'airbag' badge ) and can then run wires more easily. I plan on running a micro usb wire also to power go-pro when I use that. Once the A-piller cover is off it will be easy.

I never saw a fuse box in the front of this car. Prior 5 series did have small fuse box in glove box, but from what I have found the only fuse box in the F90 is in the trunk. Switched off fuses time out after about 5 minutes. Just like the cigarette lighter output. The Mirror power wire that you mirror tap times out after about 5 minutes also.

Front fuse box is under Glove Compartment. Just need to take off the panel under the GB. It's easily access.

I was planning on doing the breakdown of the passenger side this weekend. Thanks for the information. I am not sure why the manual does not mention this fuse box location at all? Did you find a reference on this in the manual? or just find it looking?

I had the drivers side down before to install radar detector in my M5 and my dad's M5.

Is there a paper slip (like in the rear) in that fuse box showing which fuse does what??? This will save me some time for sure.

Mike

If the F90 is like the F10, the fuse chart found in the rear fuse location has both front and rear fuse info.

Yes, have it out now, had looked at it briefly before when I was probing the rear fuses, did not realize it had the other fuse box locations were written on it LOL

Now studying it more closely. Too bad there is no place that I could find (that was not behind "sign up for an account") to decode the different symbols and meanings to determine constant vs switched.

I am going to leave the car door open for 10 minutes and hopefully things will 'time out' and go dark, then problem for constant circuits.

Got a second Mirror tap today, and again the leads broke. Ugh. Just ordered the hardwire and am going to hardwire to the fuse box.

I've been in the fuse box under the glove box, is there a fuse box on the drivers side? seems like it would be easier to run wires to that side??
