There is no MAF on the F90 M5......and no issues with oiled filters and MAF ...as long as you clean the MAF with MAF cleaner on a regular basis
Just read something about it.
I know F10 had them but looks like they use MAP sensors now for F90

Didn't expect that stock air filter is only off from straight pipe 15%
And 10.5% from BMC filter.
Roughly 3”. The substrate is what drops the flow down from a 3.0 to a 2.5

So is this thing worth putting the BMC in or not? Flow says yes.

Yes. Not a huge power gain, but 8 to 10 hp.

Sense it doesn't have MAF you can probably use it.
Some oiled filters have way to much oil.
I personally would clean the filter and oil very little.

To onfireX5:
Please explain the different depression values and why the air speed is still 0 while you measure a flow.

A power gain of 8 to 10 HP would be not bad for this inconspicuous modification.

Thank you in advance.

BMC filtration systems give better performance to the engine, both in terms of power and torque without compromising reliability. BMC Air Filters demonstrate the highest quality, performance and reliability and have no equal in the market.

It's a pity that they don't provide dyno test to prove with data this increase of power and torque. :

Great questions.

1. Depression, Pressure Drop, “H20 is all the same “slang” and refer to the amount of pressure delta required at that point for that amount of mass air flow due to a restriction. That restriction is a parasitic loss. So if one airbox demands 450cfm at 7000rpm at 21psi of Boost on a 70f day, etc, etc ideally it would get that flow with zero pressure drop. That would be zero hp loss. If it gets 450 at 8” of drop, there is that loss. If it gets 450 at 18” of drop , even more HP loss. So we measure those losses on a bench and try to mitigate them to a “reasonable “ number.

2. Airspeed is measured independently of drop and generally is not used for these type tests. You take a probe that is computer integrated to the bench and touch areas where you want to measure the air speed. It’s very useful in cylinder head porting as absolute CFM flow does not always equate to maximum power. Airspeed through the ports play a very important role there plus the locations of different speeds, dead zones, etc.
