you would trust a service tech to remove oem wing and install this M performance wing? instead of a certified BMW body shop? not concerned for scratches?

glue BMW part#82699408866

i removed my OEM CF wing and it was not fun, but its doable.. use fishing line to cut the betalink, takes two seconds and factory wing comes off. Then use 3m adhesive remover to remove residue.. clean it all up use cutting compound to get rid of any scratches in the clear. I put PPF on top part of the trunk as the pro wing will sit on top it, this way in event i want to remove it i can just peel the PPF and paint is as clean as it was day 1. More work but an option nonetheless..

I'm not going to do this install as I know the work involved I did it on my F10 M5 (only used doublesided tape and not this special bmw glue).....question is do I have the service techs or body shop install wing....dealer said they can install it no problem...but I've always left this kind of install to a bodyshop

dealer or body shop should be able to do it no problem, the wing conforms to the trunk and has about 1/4 gap from edge of the trunk on each side. I was told betalink need to dry for 24hr period so expect not to have the car back same day.

Garage List
Do not recommend installing it yourself. That Betalink K1 adhesive is hell to work with... I think it will be okay, but man.... what a mess.

but when you remove that "undersized" oem wing doesnt that leave residue? what will they use to remove it? or is it oem doublesided tape that come off easy?

yes the oem wing willl leave shit ton of betalink which all needs to be rubbed off with your fingers along with 3m adhesive remover or the like. (Zoom in on the 2nd photo) https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1568784

you're better off with a bodyshop in event there are surface scratches in the clear so they can clean it up before mounting the new one. Dealership may not be able to do this or want to do this from liability standpoint especially since that oem part was installed at port.

The new pro wing is surely worth it in my opinion
