B&W Audio Equaliser Setting
Hey guys,
Could some of you audiophiles share your B&W equaliser settings? I have absolutely no clues and the default setting seems to be great but was wondering if what you guys would do. Thank you. |

ericdad, I had the same problem until someone on the board suggested closing your eyes and opening your ears while you play with settings. It worked out well for my Harmon Kardon system in the X5M.

I don't have the B&W system but I read that most think it lacks bass just as the HK that I have.
I'm fiddling with the EQ since a couple of weeks on weekly 2.5 hours drives and I think the HK system in the M5 struggles with the 200Hz band which seems to send way too much bass to the small mid-bass speakers of the doors and rear deck. I just lowered the 200Hz to minus 5-6 while turning up the 100Hz one to plus 5-6. Much more bass with that setting so far with modern music. It still lacks on old quality recordings. I wonder if the B&W system will behave the same. Might be worth a try but seems counter intuitive.

Haven't had much luck getting this dialed in as I'd like but here are my initial thoughts. I'm using Deezer in high quality (flac). Problem is our car uses wireless Carplay only and not wired (however is Wi-Fi and not Bluetooth so not sure if that still considers it as "streaming). I say this because the music is downloaded to my iPhone and not necessarily streaming via Deezer. Usually. I haven't tried using a usb cable yet and trying other flac music stored on my phone.
Sound is OK/decent/acceptable. It is NOT nearly the quality I had in my 2015 mb s550 with burmester, perhaps the best I ever heard. What I notice is somewhat of an echo/hollowness in studio mode and other modes. Maybe a tad bit too much treble even after lowering it. Someone in another post used the word "airy". I would agree. Also have to turn volume up enough to really get a decent presentation. I do not find bass all that bad. I'm not a glass breaking, fender rattling bass guy anyway. Could it be more solid? Sure. But it's acceptable and on par with the rest of the system. Maybe would like to see the option to turn off the B&W effects (studio, etc) and see how it sounds straight from the source but I don't see that option. |

IMHO one of the big issues with this type of thread is that different music sounds better with different systems and EQ settings, etc...
The B&W system may sound AMAZING for Jazz, and sound awful for EDM (I had some computer speakers that were this way for example). The EQ tune I need to get my EDM to sound right to me, would probably be a bad tune for someone who was into 70s rock or classical piano or... I listen to mostly bass heavy EDM, and the B&W is much better than the HK in my F13 M6 was, but it still lacks bass volume and clarity IMHO. I will continue playing with the EQ, but even when I find the best settings for my music, those settings probably aren't great for other types of music... And that's ignoring everyone's ears being so different.. |

I believe Studio is the option for no effects. The others do color the music too much.

Do the B&W audio settings apply globally across all sources, or can you set them individually, let's say, for Sirius vs. Pandora vs. CD? And if the latter is true, do the settings for each source automatically switch when the source is switched?

You can however set the EQ screen as a user shortcut button and pull it up with one press.

Good work around. I listen mostly to Pandora, and occasionally to Sirius, and when I switch to the latter, the fader is almost always too far forward and requires adjusting. I already have the audio adjustment setting as a preset; I guess I'll change it to the fader adjustments. Thanks, good suggestion.
