Sorry the noob but what is drone effect?
Also where are those connectors at, more or less?
I did install the M Sport Exhaust (mid section muffler). It changed very slightly, wasn't worth the investment IMHO.

If its same as X5M i'm assuming you put the car into Sport+ rev the engine then shut the car off so that valves remain in open position. Physically verify that valves are open since they are visible on F90, then proceed to unplug the connectors, tape them and tuck them away.

I have done this mod on my X5M and there is drone which i don't mind, however looking at F90 insulation i highly doubt this will be the case. On X5M it works perfect as i don't want the full system and the exhaust note is just slightly amplified, i noticed if you want the drone to go away just drive in sport mode since it elevates the RPM just enough to be out of the drone zone when in high gear.

It sounds best when fully warm and you fire it up, it sounds almost like a deep bark, lol. I'm looking forward to same results on the F90.

Oh, obviously make sure the flaps are open b4 u start.
Dont bother removing all 6, all you need to remove is the 2 in the rear and you have plenty of room to reach the connectors. - It takes 2 minutes.

There is a sound difference, but its nothing seriously and no real change at WOT...you really notice it around half throttle and first start.

Go to the rear of your car and get down to eye level with the exhaust tips, look about 6" back from outer exhaust tip. you'll see a black actuator/motor mounted to the exhaust pipe and a wire connector on the bottom of it. - Thats what you need to unplug, one per side. You cant miss it.

I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but does anyone have photos to show where to unplug the valve control on the LCI?

I found a diy post on line and did it, it's 6 screws to remove the skid plate (3 on each side), then pull the plugs on each side and zip tie them or wrap the connectors in black tape and put the skid plate back.

Oh, obviously make sure the flaps are open b4 u start.
Can you share where you found the DIY post?
