Performance tuning

Sorry but I'm not technical so I hope I'm asking the right question....

I've read all the posts about tuning vendors, they all seem to say the same thing as far as performance gains.

I have 2 AMG cars with Renntech tunes, they have you send them the processor to tune and I have a Raptor that I programmed from ODB II port. Are there places that do these types of tunes for F90s? All the vendors I see here have boxes you plug in and leave. I don't have experience with plug in and leave boxes.

Can anyone provide their personal experience with the vendors and who they recommend?

Racechip GT seems to be the popular tune, that's all I can tell you. Sorry!

The plug and leave box is a piggy (module) which basically intercepts a signal before it's delivered to the ECU essentially tricking it with a new input generated by the piggy; boost is a commonly manipulated variable which generates the additional WHP.

While I've not tried the RC Module it seems good from the feedback of other forum members. I can say that I went the piggy route on both of my F10 M5's with no issues.

The other tunes mentioned in your post are when certain parameters are modified on your ECU to generate more power.

I would do a search on the F10 M5 forum regarding the pros / cons of each particular route as well impact on warranty etc.

Good luck.

You may be thinking of simple stage1 tunes.. The JB4 really has no rivals in this market. The electronic wastegate control and CANbus, coupled with a robust phone app, boost by gear logic, and much more, allow it to deliver performance on par with custom flash maps, only in a format you can easily install and remove at home. It makes all the other tuning options, including the BMS Stage1, look like toys.

No disagreement ... I was referring exactly to the most basic Stage 1 Piggy. Essentially plug and play as the OP stated he was limited technically.

I got the stage 2, I Have an Akrapovic exhaust and the Eventuri cold air kit on the way. Mo from DME told me that there is a minimal gain with the down tubes. I'll see if I need to add them later. My car only has 400 miles on it, Mo recommended that I wait until after the 1200 mile service to put the tune on it

Well it's because they ran downpipes only, now they are running downpipes and midpipes and it makes a big difference otherwise they wouldn't run it, but of course enjoy the car while it's new

The akrapovic exhaust has mid pipes. It's just the down tubes I'm missing
