Need advise: Performace tune before 1200 mile service

The Akrapovic exhaust is installed, I have the Eventuri intake ordered and on the way and I purchased the DME stage 2 tune. The car has 500 miles, should I wait until after the 1200 mile service to put the tune on it?

I broke my car in hard from day one and I added Race Chip around 750 miles-- no issues.

I like my cars to be prepared for the way Im always going to drive it and have done that on all 11 of my AMGs, 9 M's, and 15 or so other cars.

Does it matter if there is a flash update that needs to be done by the dealer?

Yeah that could erase your DME tune. I forgot that you are getting a bench flash while I have a piggy. In that case, wait for sure.

Lolll I'm in the same boat. I'm probably going to wait. Exhaust and intake and DP's are going in before 1200 but the tune will wait until after first service.

With respect to everyone...

Certainly don't tune your car before it's broken in. Personally, I wouldn't drop in any performance mods at all until the first service.

Break in matters. BMW states exactly how the car should be broken in and they don't just pull the info out of their ass. They do a tremendous amount of testing and document real differences in outcomes.

I've pulled apart many engines and it's easy to see which were broken in properly by looking at the wear patterns of various parts. Running too hard too soon creates unnecessary and undesirable wear on mated parts that will subsequently have a looser and/or improper fit.

This doesn't mean your car will explode if not broken in properly but not following break in procedure has certainly has caused problems up to and including total failure and is often the reason why a given engine may run better than the one next to it.

My $.02. YMMV
