A feature of the E92 that I don't think many people know...

When I drove the 335 the other day, I was told to stare at the headlights as the driver turned the steering wheel. NO! I am not talking about the adaptive headlights...even I have those in my 04 330ci. When he turned the wheel to the left, the left high beam would light up dimly and turn itself towards the left, and vice versa with the right. I don't know why this is not stated in the standard option list but it was cool as shit. They are called cornering lights. Very cool indeed. They are to assist you in turns where the fogs and low beams can not reach.

I hate it when a new feature comes out. Makes me second guess my purchase/timing of purchase

as much as i love bmw and i cant wait till i get my 335, my slk350 already had this feature so i wouldnt give ALL the credit to bmw inventing this. But instead of the high beams helping you corner, they use the fogs.

I've seen this feature on the Mercedes CLS before. But instead they use the fog lights. Might be on other Mercedes model too.

How is this different then the Adaptive headlights?? I mean, I know the adaptive headlights turn the headlights and not the highbeams... but how does the end result differ?

The Adaptive Headlights are designed to work on more gentle curves at higher speeds. The Cornering Lights (as the name implies) work on sharper corners at low speed.

Citroen had this feature in the 1960s by the way.

so i guess the consensus is, this feature is only new for some people but it's really been around since 1950's.

Bosch is owned by BMW if i remember correctly which would mean BMW invented ABS brakes. I guess thats one thing they invented.

Um, I really dont think Bosch is owned by BMW. MB and Audi (not to mention many others) use Bosch parts. I highly doubt they would do that if they were owned by BMW.

BTW, Mercedes-Benz had the first ABS equipped car.
