To tune or not?
I just scooped up a 19 m5 comp with 30k miles. What are your thoughts on waiting till warranty is up or just saying f*ck it and doing it now? Also, what are the best tunes? New to BMW world, coming from Audi.

What are your thoughts on the Noelle Performance tune? They apparently will warranty the car until factory warranty is up.

If you want the security of a warranty then I would suggest either Dinan or CarBahn.

We've run a lot of pre LCI's on DME Tuning's stage 1 and 2 flash tunes (whether or not it's got DP's). The cars haven't had any issues as the tunes are not aggressive, squeezing every ounce out of it. Most of the issues seen are when people start getting crazy with fuel mixtures beyond 93.

Noelle seems to be a joke. You can’t find any dyno or dragy or dragstrip testing like you can for Racechip, JB4, RK, Bootmod, DME, Evolve, etc.

I’ve been running a DMETuning tune on mine for a year now. Previous to that, 3 years on their tunes with a built F80. Not a single problem. Reliable and they run some of the fastest cars around. For instance, I kicked the crap out of a new Lambo Huracan Performante from a 60 roll just last weekend, under controlled conditions of course.

Also does one need catless downpipes for stage 2 or would highflow be good? |

Thing is, with a tune run over long term, you are pushing and maybe surpassing the limits the car was supposed to be doing. Sure, if you are lucky and careful not to let it rip it too often, you'll be fine. I'm planning on keeping my M5 for a long time, so I'd rather keep it as it is. In the end it boils down to - how much of a risk you're willing to take - how much will you be using that extra HP and torque - how long you plan to keep the car - if s**t hits the fan, can you pay up |

I've heard that RaceChip is a pretty nice start to get that extra kick out of the F90. I've also heard that DME is a great way to say f*ck it & full send it safely. I haven't done either because I feel that the f90 already has so much power from factory that i ask myself, where am i trying to go? the moon? LOL 600hp 4.4 liter Twin Turbo v8 is as great as it gets imo.

start with racechip as 2indapink said. good compromise.
i can guarantee if anything goes wrong (motor related) after a flash you're eating shit. It doesn't matter who you know at the dealer anymore to try and get by. |

Put $$ aside for a new engine or at least a rebuild. Then go nuts.
Ask me how I know
