Light weight wheel options??

I’m seeking a set of lightweight, strong and good looking wheels that are going to cut around 10lbs per corner over the factory wheels.

So far I’ve found a set from Titan that are forged and 22lbs, however, they only have 3 of them in stock, in black.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Signature Wheels are all of the above, while coming in less expensive than HRE and BBS. I’m on my 3rd set and highly recommend them.

HRE R101's are near exactly 10lbs lighter per corner than the 789M's.

789M:
Front: 28lbs
Rear: 29.5lbs

706M:
Front: 34.6lbs
Rear: 35.8lbs

863M:
Front: 27.8lbs
Rear: 29.2lbs

963M:
Front: 21.8lbs
Rear: 24lbs

1000M:
Front: 26.7lbs
Rear: 27.9lbs

20" R101:
Front: 18.2lbs
Rear: 18.8lbs

21" FI-R

I reviewed the Dinan DC3 wheels several months ago. They were a bit heavier than advertised, but still about 10 lbs per wheel lighter than the stock M5 cast wheels (706M).

Here is a link: https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ighlight=dinan.

I would have loved a set of the HRE wheels, but I believe they cost about 3x the Dinan wheels and I could not justify that level of expense.

Good luck with your shopping.

Thanks, this is great data.

One note, it appears that the 963M wheels are 19" front rather than 20" so not quite an apples to apples and possibly not a great fit for an M5 Comp.

Yeah, forgeline wheels are solid.

I have the Titan 7s, love them, reasonable price, super light. Shame they aren't in stock!!!

I had the gunmetal finish and about to refinish in black. Highly recommend.

WOW! My stock wheels are nearly 36lbs! These HRE at going to be around 16lbs less... This will be a game changer for 60ft and 0-60 times.

Also looking for something, have the 706Ms now. I’m between the Titans or 863ms

You're not accounting for the physics in unsprung vs sprung mass; yes, it's a heavy freggin' car, but unsprung weight makes a statistically significant difference in performance for every pound you're able to shed, and there's only hundreds of pounds of total unsprung mass in any given vehicle to start with.

My 4400LB SQ5 ran a 12.5 best (it was more like 12.7 repeatable) in beyond ideal -1300DA on the heavy stock 21" wheels, and the same car, in the exact same spot, in much worse +300DA, ran a 12.3 repeatedly after I had swapped my 20" HRE's on, they shed 14lbs per corner of unsprung mass. The quickest route to results from weight reduction is in unsprung mass, always start with the wheels no matter how much the car weighs.

Wishing the M5 comp was a little more popular to have a dedicated wheel thread. Would like to see some options as well. I know BC forged makes some nice looking wheels that are light weight too.

What wheels are on the blue m5 in the distance? I think I’m a bit more partial to the straight lines.

If it's the one I think it is, it's 21" HRE R101LW.

Yes they are R101LW’s. But sheesh…how about a little patronage? “Yeah those Sigs are nice!” or “Nice shot!” Only kidding. Maybe.

Thanks for the inquiry. Our monoblock and track series lineup are about 20LB in your fitment, we can do factory offset and a bit more flushed / but factory width.

From signature wheels, they also have a sale on right now. Any reviews from these guys?
