Fashion grey f90 gets a proper steering wheel
Similar to many other members here, I found the steering wheel design shows that it was given little to no attention in terms of WOW factor. Yes the interior as a whole is great, and shows its class and price increase over a standard 5 Series, but the overall look, and feel of the stock steering wheel is a let down.
Now, take that, and couple it with the fact that if you order 1/3 packages available for the F90 M5, you do NOT get to spend another 2k, and buy yet an additional option for the car, designed by the same folks who brought you this glorious machine. I'm talking about the M performance steering wheel, which is beautiful, and feels leaps and bounds better, and more "M-like" than what was built on the car. Cars built with Drivers Assistance Package Plus, can not have the M Performance steering wheel option also checked off on the order bank. A total oversight in this regard. I sought out and purchased, arguably one of the most expensive cars BMW makes generation after generation, also one of the most iconic, and I now want to give you even more of my money, for something that should be customizable, or at the very least, work with any/all packages, especially given its $2000 up charge. I'm not someone who raises my every single concern or dislike, and asks for a "higher up" every time I get on the phone to take out my bad day on someone else, but I am one of those people that don't want to hear "no" after shelling out this kinda cash. That being said… Upon scrolling through Instagram one night, I found the page @azaautowheel . I sent a DM, because the picture on the post was an F90 M5 wheel, but with brown and black leather, shift lights, carbon fiber- the works. The caption also stated that they can fabricate any design, and still retain factory functions. From the get go, these guys responded to every question, and back and forth indecisive moment I had. A plethora of colors, styles, shapes, and patterns to choose from. My M5, built with Fashion Grey / Tartufo / Piano Blk trim, so anything offered from the standard catalog draped in carbon fiber was a misfit in my eyes. I tried my hardest to get Tartufo leather, or a few yards of it, or a roll, however the hell it's sold. I would've purchased it for whatever BMW said it cost.. but…. Another major "WTF" moment, finding out that NO ONE has Tartufo hydes , BMW does not sell it, or give it, and everyone's response was "we could try and get as close as we can, but…" which wasn't acceptable for me. I wanted to give the car a proper feel, you know, what you're supposed to feel on your hands when you grip the main control instrument to a 625HP 4 door gravetron type automobile. The type of steering wheel you put both hands on and start laughing to yourself and say " OH YEA" The Steering wheel design team must have also been in charge of the paddles that shift this V8 up and down. Honestly, the paddles, were just garbage. Small, very unimportant, and not easily reached when having to use the opposite hand. I was shocked when I put the 2 side by side to see the size comparison and feel. Steering wheel packaging was flawless. Box was taped securely and beautifully closed. The wheel, with proper protection and barriers protecting it, was also covered in a beautiful drawstring cover, with a leather wallet, I imagine made from the same guys who stitch the steering wheels, with the business card in side. SOLUTION: IND
AZA AUTO WHEEL
ALL functions RETAINED. Heated steering wheel, all buttons, settings, lane assist, cruise control, volume, etc. RETAINED Paddles went on without any issues, and MARVELOUS The end result: WORLDS better. Honestly, NO words to properly compare the vast differences from factory until now. Very pleased with the outcome. And I would do it all over again. From start to finish (payment to install) on the steering wheel was almost 8 weeks (I know- I went batshit crazy) and about 2-3 weeks for the paddles. I've waited about 4 weeks now to have 1 last part delivered before showcasing my 2.0 mod list, so I figured being that you're allowed a limited amount of pics per post, I decided part 2.1 is now, which is the interior mods, and 2.2 will be next week! For now, enjoy the cockpit to my F90 M5 BRCHP

Thank you. Yes, Those Carbon wheels are just gross. They absolutely didn't fit the personality of the M5

No. I'll admit my eagerness to have it installed had me attempt it. After watching the video a dozen times- I couldn't get the airbag Pins to disengage. And I didn't feel like forcing it. So I had my go-to shop (EUROWERKS) install it.
