Question - and I'll try keep it simple but do you know if your coder had to change the vehicle's country variation from US to ECE or did he just line code each necessary parameter?

Word on the street is that this is only way to get the Euro taillights to function properly.

A telltale sign that the region code was changed is if your front US side markers are still functioning, since ECE regional mapping automatically disables them.

so randomly the upper portion of my Driver side outside tail light stopped functioning as a turn signal. I didnt receive a turn signal error but i noticed it started flashing quickly on the inside. Luckily today was oil change day so i added it to the list of things to check and hopefully they'll be placing an order for a new module. So odd. all the pins were in tact and nothing acute happened. Just one day started fleshing quickly in my cluster.

Who is "they"? Did you have the dealer do the retro-fit and warranty it? Trying to understand how you will be getting a new one.

Dealer didn't ask any questions. Just showed him when I took in for oil and he said he ordered it and it'll be in tomorrow. I was more shocked he found one state side and not weeks from Germany haha.

Well I bought parts from BMW. So they didn't have a problem replacing them since they're oem and part of a BMW upgrade package.

Sorry, his company is MPower Motorsport and the majority of the people in this thread bought from "them" which is really a one man show AKA Abdul.

That's one reason I bought it directly from BMW dealership as well. If anything happens they will cover it.

Can you please link to the exact part that the dealer is changing? Maybe see what it says on the work order exactly.

Few people msgd me with having exact same issue. I want to know what has failed for them, as it is not coding or wiring related. Thanks

its just the Driver Side outer tail light (63-21-8-493-813). The little strip worked but the main tail light would not flash for the turn signal. It would light up for breaking and normal tail light function though. This is the plug and play one too so coding/wiring shouldn't have an effect. I am curious if others with this issue were getting a cluster message or just the rapid blinker when activated.


Part was overnighted, replaced and works. Glad i got from dealer as well especially considering the price was similar. Worst case scenario its like $300 if you had to foot the bill yourself. I still had a turn signal so i would have been fine waiting for a new one to show up. But it was nice being overnighted for free and being handled as part of my oil change which always take 1-2 days at my local dealership as my SA waits to have only 2 mechanics work on my car when it comes in...so he says. haha

Good deal! I believe you have US Spec. I wonder if the dealer would honor replacement of Euro's on a US car. I kind of doubt it since you can't buy them from a dealer to the best of my knowledge. Just thought of this, so I'm pretty much opening my wallet no matter what as I have Euro's.

The people that contacted me had this issue on USA lights as well. Sounds like some manufacturing defect on those driver side outer lights…

No errors, just fast blinking, top portion of the light didn't blink, and would not light up bright for braking in that top portion

Ya not sure. I mean it's still an OEM part and if you bought from a dealer then I dont see why. Not sure if they can physically order "euro" parts though? I would imagine anyone can order the parts. I mean what if someone bought one and shipped it into the US. They would still service it to include replacing parts, lol.

Well looks like we have identified a trend. I was just mostly excited they could have it overnighted and that it was in CONUS.

Folks I’m in the UK and just done the boot lid lights but instead of the indicator light flashing (we have a yellow one here) the brake light is flashing like the US just wondering If I need to change the wiring or if this get fixed in coding?

If you haven't had it coded yet, that's pretty much what you will be left with. Assuming all your wiring is accurate, these will not work correctly without coding.

So I got mine to work.

I've got a F90 Comp (EU spec) with the new LCD cockpit - I followed the re-pin instructions by the OP but I had the same as Whiskey and I note he has the same model car of mine. turn signals ok on the outside but the brake light blinking on the inner lights. So I moved pin 5 on both to pin 4. And that resolved it.

So only one thing I don't have is the inner red lights don't react to brake pedal but that is the same behaviour as the LCI I believe.

I didn't have to do any coding, no errors, reverse lights work, fog light works; welcome lights work.
